I drove around the area earlier and it looks like they are starting to clear it. I know this one will be a long time in the making but still, it's incredible to think someone even proposed doing this here, it looks like something that would only happen in much larger cities.
Yea, I still wonder where the people and companies that are supposed to fill this will even come from. Even though it's apparently moving along, the "old Nashville" in me can't help but be skeptical. We're talking about little old Nashville after all.

In this view, the Renaissance seems to be the center piece instead of the Batman for once

Wow! that's an interesting new view of downtown.

The 80s called. They want their parking lot back.

Have you read the list of names of soldiers who fell in the Alamo on one of the walls inside the Alamo? Lots of Tennesseans.

This building looks totally solid. Not a popsicle stick building at all!

I meant to say in East Nashville if we have dedicated lanes with BRT, it would pass.
I've never seem BRT in person. I guess that means it operates separately from normal traffic.

I think The Amp going down West End is what killed it. Should we have ROW just in East Nashville to start out, I think it would be fine and will pass. Light rail is doing the same thing, taking away a lane, but at 10x the cost.
Would ROW be able to bypass traffic jams? Or would that lane get filled up too. Mass transit has to be able to move people regardless of the traffic situation.

I'm thrilled to see people like Jim Creason build in the old style but to modern standards. I wish more people did that.

Yep. That bit about the Ryman and "more parking". Different planet.

Some people will complain about anything.
***OMG!!! My city's vibrant and growing!!! We can't have none of that crap here!!!***
Detroit would love to take all of these projects off your hands.
I bet they would. But they're ours.

All sorts of the "good ol' days" people are rightfully being ignored I think. Good things and positive changes are happening in spite of them.

I don't even know where to begin addressing that level of stupidity.
Some people really can't comprehend what's going on around them. I heard someone complaining of "all the condo towers going up" downtown. I asked which ones....
"Well that one is a hotel. That's one's an office building. Another hotel. Another hotel. Another office. Oh, yeah, that one is apartments...."
I didn't realize Megan Berry was the one building all those...and that she keeps all of Nashville's money stashed some-whurr! Also, are there reasons listed for their hatred of construction? I can understand the frustrations with traffic, but it seems like they might be just complaining about existence in general.

I don't think you are following what I was saying. The generic photo from the bridge makes Nashville look like a very small city since it hides all of our density. Sadly this is the photo that everyone posts when showing the city.
Well, you know, it's really just a photo of the Batman building. By this point I also suspect that there are people who deny that Nashville has grown beyond that little snapshot. They want to keep it the old way. I think maybe Beaman might be a bit like that.

Faux Victorian buildings will also look like crap over time if not well maintained. Lasting architecture requires proper design, construction AND upkeep. Without all three elements, it really doesn't matter, 'cause it'll be demolished in a limited time anyway.
Styles of architecture come and go, but they all need those 3 elements. Here in Memphis, there are still quite a bit of those kind of buildings, and despite their age, they're beautiful and impressive. Stuff like Artisan on Music Row, will never be either, whether new and sturdy or old and in need of renovation.

Agreed! We actually look like a respectable city from this view.
Are we not one?

I wish more builders would make new buildings in that Victorian style instead of the weird asymmetrical roof-fin buildings that will be decrepit and embarrassing in a decade or 2.

No it's fine from here .there is a the staircase on 11 ave and Demonbreun
It was awful nice of them to build those stairs.

Is getting to downtown on foot difficult from there? Seems like the only option is Demonbreun which seems dangerous, or hopping the tracks.

I used to have notebooks just like in that picture. Also those crazy pencil boxes with push-button gadgets all over it.

Any updates on this project? Looking forward to them breaking wind on the W Hotel.
You can't break wind on it until it's built.

Are those still being made?

That's been happening a lot though. The Pinnacle seemed odd to me when it was under construction, but now it's surrounded by other tall buildings. Same thing with the Westin.

It doesn't seem to be the type of development with parking lots surrounding buildings, looking at the renderings. It looks very urban to me.
