I agree, total bummer. And the thing is, right down the street around the corner from Unknown is a really great version of what World of Beer and (likely) The Brass Tap fail to be. I visited Craft Growler Shop this past weekend and really enjoyed it. Nice small plates (and wafer thin flatbreads) coupled with a dynamite collection of regional beers on draft. I'd much rather visit there than one of these chain joints.

I agree with this. Really highlights how important it is to come out of the gate with high-quality beers. Took me more than a year to return, and I had to hear about their improvement from a bunch of people before I'd go give it another go. Their styles are a bit cloying for my taste, but the Muscles from Brussels is quite good. But that negative buzz is death for a lot of places. Compare that to what Sugar Creek has done, producing really high quality beer from day one.

Hoppy Holidays is pretty good, and I agree with the idea that it is a lighter version of the bold HDR. Also a little lower ABV, which I happen to appreciate on occasion. HDR has a way of hitting me a bit harder after a long day. I hope they bring this back for the holidays next year. A little more piney wouldn't hurt.
