  1. Happy Spring everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Construction of the new Courtyard Marriot with a Starbucks on Third Street. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Anyone consider the land across the Capitol Lake from the State Capitol? Plenty of land that's not being used. It's pretty industrial but it could be a great stimulus to that part of downtown not to mention they could clean up the lake and use it. Could you images exhibits with the downtown skyline and state Capitol in the background or an amphitheater facing the lake with a floating stage! That location makes the most sense to me because it's in the center of the city next to downtown. What do y'all think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Unfortunately a Sonic with a drive through is coming downtown at the corner of Government Street and 10th St. (on ramp to I-110) Myself included and the rest of Beauregard Town are not happy at all about this. It's pretty much a done deal. The DDD and neighborhood are putting pressure to at least get better aesthetics and a better planting scheme for the site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm doing a giveaway on my Instagram page that promotes downtown businesses during the holidays and also helps local dog rescue/adoption agencies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Happy Holidays Everyone! I finally found the App that lets me post pictures! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hey guys, I heard that Magpie Cafe is opening a second location in the renovated Watermark Hotel proposed on Third Street! BTW my GeauxDowntownBR page is now on Facebook as well as Instagram. I'm up to almost 7000 followers on Instagram so I decided to start a Facebook page to reach a larger audience. Thanks guys! Keep up the great work on here!
  9. Hey everyone, I didn't know where to post this but I have been following the threads for years and thoroughly enjoy reading everyone's contributions. Though I have been silent I share the same enthusiasm for Baton Rouge development. I have started an Instagram account called GeauxDowntownBR which I extend to highlight everything new and old downtown. I am a resident and I encounter so many people in Baton Rouge who don't ever venture into downtown nor are they aware of everything going on there. I plan on covering everything from restaurants, retail, events, residences and history. I hope that you will check it out. At this point I am solely posting on Instagram but if everything goes well I may add Facebook. Thanks and keep up the great posting.
  10. Thanks everyone. The last I heard about that residential project few weeks back is that they are still updating the plans and that they are much better. There was a lot of backlash from the neighborhood with the initial drawings. It was all garage doors facing the street with very little esthetic value added to the neighborhood. I will post updates as I hear them. Since I have moved into the neighborhood there is a growing interest with the old and new residents to better the neighborhood. We all started using the Nextdoor App and it makes it really easy for everyone to communicate. The Garden District also uses it and it has helped strengthen their community as well.
  11. Hello, I have been following this Baton Rouge thread for about 3 years and look forward to seeing all the new development that everyone post everyday. I am originally from New Orleans and have decided to stay in Baton Rouge after graduating from LSU in Landscape Architecture. My wife and I moved to Beauregard Town about 3 years ago and love the neighborhood and walking to everything downtown has to offer. I really would like to start posting but I could use some tips on the best way to post articles and pictures. I have tried a couple of times and always get frustrated and just give up. Is the Tapatalk app easier to use than the web version? I use my iPhone to do everything. Any tips would be appreciated.
  12. Downtown Baton Rouge pier to River Queen Riverboat.
  13. Hello, I read the BR threads everyday and don't ever comment. I just want to say that I live in Beauregard Town and it is a very safe place to live. You do have a few random stragglers walking through from across the I-110 but everyone living here keeps an eye out for each other. A good majority are young professionals that work downtown. The more downtown develops the more these houses will be renovated making this an even nicer place to live. Btw, I thoroughly enjoy reading about the great progress BR is making. Thanks for keeping me informed!
