I caught part of Buddy Dyer speech. He said there are 15 projects going on. What are those?
Unrelated : Amway Center supposed to attract business and new developments and yet I see non of those happening...restaurants continue to close down....what gives? Parrmore still terrible....
Post tomorrow on Bungalower that outlines the project list...working on it right now.

It probably would not be cheap. The train would generally be shut down by the time the magic games start and finish. Sunrail would need an extra shift to accommodate everyone.
Extra shift of who? Train conductors?
Also...I am assuming that a special event train would not run after midnight...because that is currently not doable with the CSX contract.

It doesn't work like that though. It's funded to be a public good - mainly in relieving congestion on I4 during rush hour. It's not a social service like transit is often thought of (hence it doesn't serve 3rd shift workers) and it certainly isn't there for the Magic.
The idea of a train car full of fans wearing "Orlando" is a nice one and I think all of the funding municipalities would agree, but they also have a responsibility. We're talking about a lot of money that even a full train wouldn't cover.
On a positive note - the train including locomotive will be parked at Church Street station on Saturday during the Mayors State of Downtown address at Amway.
I'm curious to hear how much an extra train trip would cost...I actually don't think a train trip (technically two because you would want one in each direction) will cost that much. The operations center would already be staffed because they handle all dispatch on the lines and the stations don't have any additional cost because there is no staffing at the station. So we are talking train milage cost and staffing for the train. I have asked and they tell me they are still working on determining the exact cost.
Also, while I agree it's not a priority for SunRail to take people to a magic game (or any other event for that matter). I think it should be looked at as a marketing opportunity. The person who lives in Lake Mary and works downtown may not be willing to give up their car on day one but convince them how easy it is by them riding it to the magic game and they will be more likely to try it for the office.

OK....there was too much confusion around when SunRail would run. I tried to write up a post to set the record straight. Also the train math on the end is really for this crowd...enjoy

SunCyle/CycleHop won the Orland Bike Share Bid....We'll see bike rentals starting in time for SunRail but more likely sooner.

Greenwood is an on-leash dog park. As of a month ago there weren't any plans to change that.

An update on the OUC Building. The repairs are going to be costly.

Key points:
- The final phase of construction is tied to a multi-venue deal
- Officials are hopeful that starting construction by the beginning of 2015 will allow the center to be completed by 2018.
- Even with the $25 million in tourist-tax revenue from the multivenue deal, the second phase would need an additional $37 million. -

There are going to be so many drunk people climbing that thing.
Not going to lie...I wanted to climb it when I saw them up there working on it...looked really fun.

Saw this one in person yesterday and I am a big fan. I also saw the installation of birds on the north side of the park and that one looks promising.
Yeah those two are my favorites....of the three that are out there I should be able to post the birds later this week. I'm trying to respect the artists and not post until the sculptures are complete (minus lights, base and landscaping).

The second of the eight See Art Orlando sculptures is complete. Take a look.

They are working to resolve the issue. Talked to the owner...most of the work is done so at this point they are trying to straighten everything out with the city.
-
Good news is that all of the places I mentioned are going to be accessible via Lymmo soon! (hopefully)

I'd bet we will see more brand name clothing retail in places like Health Village, Creative Village and/or Uptown before we see it in areas like Downtown Orange Ave or Church St.

The owner of Ferg's at the train depot on Church Street wants to add shipping containers that look like trains for restrooms, kitchen and storage. Wrote up a post on Bungalower.com Feel free to comment on the story with your thoughts.

It looks like there are new plaza proposals for the next ARB meeting.
The overall layout is very similar to the June ARB meeting proposal, with a few changes that were requested.
One large change is that the pavilion has been omitted with an option to add it in the future.
They have added earthen berms to the north parcel near the plaza for seating
They have also requested (and staff is recommending) approval for a theatrical fountain.
Fountain design will have a variety of functions and options. The base design will have 4 basins with short bubblers. Thefuture functions could have laminar flows from each of the 4 fountains as well as tall jets that could be choreographed tomusic.Where did you see the ARB doc? Care to share?
