Theater Downtown is closing up too. Fla Hosp exercised an option on the lease. Building will likely get demo'd.

what is princeton warehouse?
It's a project between Florida Hospital and another local non-profit to build out the space in The Princeton Warehouse and Theatre Downtown. We're waiting on them to finalize all the details and the renderings but we should be able to share more in the next couple of weeks. They've asked us to hold off posting until things are finalized. We try to respect that as much as possible

Yep....we're waiting to see plans (none submitted yet). Developer wont share any...heard lots of different things thrown around. We'll post something once there's actually something share

I read that article. It basically stated what others have already mentioned on this forum: zero information substantiating the project. Particularly bad when the company currently developing the lot they claim to want to occupy says, "not affiliated with us."
Yep...when it was mentioned here we started poking around...and decided it wasn't worth writing about. Anyone can create renderings and a sales flyer...ok well maybe not anyone.

Pretty much as expected. Chop some off the one end, add some to the other end and it will be approved.
It will then meet all the obligations it has to meet and there will still be outrage, but on a some other ground now.

It was funny because I actually KNOW a few of the people who were interviewed on the local news the other night. Know 2 of them quite well. Still don't agree with them.
Developer told us he wont go above the five floors...I think part of the reason is cost of construction in addition to knowing it won't make people happy.

It's not 100% clear that they would support it. Honestly I have had many conversations with people against it and they usually start with "we don't want an exceptions given." When I explain that they are only getting one exception (as outlined in the article) they tell me I should talk to their planning person because they aren't 100% sure on the details....but they KNOW there are exceptions being given. I'm not trying to pick on MaryTravis in the comments...I have had that exact same conversation many times (in person, via e-mail and on facebook). I think that someone should have done a better job at explaining the difference between zoning, future land use, and vision plans. This is where everyone gets lost.
To be clear there are things I don't like about the development...but is there ever a project you are going to agree with 100%?

MBP Staff report is not out...the Sentinel and OBJ are reporting from the recap sheet and some renderings the City sent over. I'm heading to see the actual plan today..I'll get something up early next week. Hopefully with more information. We also will fill folks in on the current property lease the Sentinel has (as much as we can).
IF the Sentinel moves, the smart money says they will keep the newsroom in the downtown area but move the printing press out to an industrial area. The issue is the printing presses are very expensive to move. It's possible they are so expensive that the cost and payback overtime just isn't there. This means they would need to have the paper printed by someone else...that would not be a good situation. The good news is they probably have 10-20 years to figure this out.

So Ferg's is really going to happen? And really sticking with the trains painted on boxes thing? I'm all for opening more bar/restaurants on Church street and happy to hear they are preserving the historic building, but I'm still puzzled by the tacky train paintings...

What's the big secret? They have an official web page dedicated to the Orlando site, complete with renderings and a link to the YouTube clip showing more renderings and a Twitter handle that links to the Sentinel's article about them from April (which includes a detailed video interview on the site of the future Ace Cafe).
yeah...I know.
It's been interesting how many people want to open a business or build a building and want to control the media coverage and their way of doing so is holding their messaging until they are ready to share...problem is when they are ready to share...most of us are done covering...and so they miss the opportunity to get their messaging shared....rant over.

Over a year ago there was discussion of Ace Cafe coming to downtown Orlando, but I think the original plan was to put it somewhere on Church Street (where Don Jefe's opened if memory serves me right).
They've been talking with the City for over a year. They had asked us not to publish anything yet because it wasn't a done deal yet. We listened..others did not. And again they also asked us today not to write, but we let them know that we couldn't wait any longer...but expect an official announcement from them in October.

There is an additional $16M for "EXPO CENTER HOUSING" with 400 units on top of the other line items -- could this be at the Downtown campus too?

I still can't figure out what is proposed where. So phase 2 and 3 are under construction? Are there any detailed maps showing the locations? The City maps aren't even clear enough to determine which side of the rail line the walkway is located.
All of the dashed line is funded...nothing is actually under construction yet.
The dotted line is not funded.
It will all be on the east side of the tracks when it's north of Colonial. (not 100% sure but that is my understanding).

Anyone know if the pedestrian overpass will be at just Orange & Colonial or will it also be at Magnolia & Colonial for cyclists heading north?

Driving down I-4 this weekend and pretty sure that the concord Lexington apartments are under construction. There is definitely heavy machinery and construction going on. Any one else see or able to confirm?

The rest of the team in the Mayor's Office has made it clear that one of the reasons they thought I would be good for this role is because I stay connected to the people who are pushing for innovation and thinking differently about our City...this forum is no exception!
