  1. Great pictures. I'm in Chicago so these pictures make me get excited about LRT. Thanks.
  2. You make it sound as if poor people are like roaches. Man you need to let that go. Pride comes before a fall, so watch out!! Anyway like it was said, this thread is not about the plight of the poor so why do you keep bringing it up?
  3. I totally agree. Not many historical buildings left downtown. Save the dinosaur.
  4. I live in Chicago right now, but I will be moving back to Norfolk in the middle of next year. I went to the ESPNZONE here a few years back to watch the Redskins vs the Giants and I had a ball. The place was packed and there was so much to do. They had all of the local sports teams represented in the decor of the Zone. They had batting cages, punt, pass and kicking games. TV's everywhere. Very family oriented. I can see all the local Norfolk sports teams represented in Norfolk. Admirals, Tides, ODU, Norfolk state, Redskins etc. The place would be packed on a regular bases. HR is ready to be a sports town.(Look at ODU's recent turnout) And there are only a select number of cities with EZONE so if we can pull it off, it would definately help bring Norfolk to the next level.
  5. I heard that. I'm new to Urbanplanet so I didn't know it had been covered so much. Just have a soft spot for the "Underdog". Love a good comeback story. In a way, Waterside is gonna be like a comeback story if the city of Norfolk would pay attention to some of the ideas you guys have been sharing on this thread. I remember when Waterside first opened up. It was an exciting time for Norfolk. Before that, there was a dinner-cruise boat docked there. The boat would always advertise dinner and a cruise, but it would never leave the dock because it was mechanically unable to. There was no Townpoint Park either. Very dark and dangerous at night. Unfortunately, Waterside has to share the spotlight with Mac Center, Nauticus and Granby st now. Not to mention all the other attractions downtown. They need to clean it up and tie it into activities in the park. I think ESPNzone would be nice in there.
  6. Hey guys. I'm the new kid on the block. Been reading the post on this sight every day and I feel your frustration. I just don't agree with " get rid of poor people". If you look at thriving metro areas in our country, you will see that poor people exist everwhere. Poor people have a right to live here as well as anyone else. Those of us who are stronger financially need to find a legitimate non-profit organization and give of our time and money to help out. You never know when you might be on the other end of financial dispare, especially with the current economy. We all need to be held accountable for pulling our own weight, including poor people. I'm all for Norfolk's expanitial growth, but not at the expense of the poor.
