In this article, https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-07-14/inside-amtrak-s-75-billion-plan-to-revive-us-train-travel?srnd=citylab, why does it mention adding new service to Salisbury, NC, when Salisbury already has service?

What's the history of Runnymede Ln? I've always thought some of the intersections were unusual, notably Barclay Downs Dr. By looking at the powerlines and tree lines, it looks like Runnymede originally turned into Barclay Downs Dr heading south, and Sagamore Rd heading west. Also looks like maybe it originally continued straight into Brandywine Rd?
Check out https://www.historicaerials.com/viewer. There used to be a four-way intersection at Runnymeade/Sagamore/Barclay Downs.

I think I've seen this posted before. I believe it was maybe an old railway spur or something like that?
I posted the same question many years ago but could not locate the post. It's always bugged me what that was so perhaps this is the opportunity for some closure.

Does anyone have any information on this abutment found off of N Tryon St next to the Mallard Creek Greenway?
Google Street View: https://goo.gl/maps/TALRo9NPj6uUpJF2A
I've found the opposing abutment through old aerial imaging. This was demolished when Cookout was built.
Could this have been the route to Salisbury pre-US 29?

My Heritage USA memories:
- Driving through at Christmas time, seeing the lights and scenery.
- Jim Baker (or was that someone else) sliding down the water slide.
- An office building in the shape of a pyramid.

Last week saw some minor construction activity at the Historic Salisbury Station.
While I won't be able to contribute much information on the technical aspects of what I see, I will be happy to post photos of this project's progress. I like trains, and I like construction, but I don't get too deep into the details.

This says that A&W is making their NC debut in Charlotte, but I seem to remember going to an A&W on Independence Blvd as a young teenager. Was I mistaken?

As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s, we claimed our cul-de-sac, coming in at 743', as the highest cul-de-sac in town. Looks like the torch was passed sans our approval.

I'm hearing that all lanes were opened on I-85 between Salisbury and Kannapolis yesterday. A red-letter day for sure!

Jersey barriers are gone for both north and southbound on I-85 between Kannapolis and Salisbury. Southbound travel lanes have shifted over to the new lanes while the previous lanes are being marked. Entrance ramps from the new exit were being paved today. It won't be long now!

I love this city but this city has a violent crime problem that needs to be cured. Please PRAY for the safety of everyone in this city and we need to pray for peace over this city. I am sick and tired of the murders in this town it is out of control.
Please do not make this political debate but get on your knees and pray for this city and its residents, its students, everyone . This violence needs to stop!
Amen!
