  1. OK, the video, new renderings and PowerPoint from last night's Council presentation are up on the Web site. Everything is linked from the home page - right hand side. Let me know if you run into any problems. www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com Let me know your thoughts!
  2. Good morning, Sorry I have been m.i.a. for awhile. As you all know, things are really heating up again, so I should have more updates for you in the coming weeks. I wanted to let you all know I will be tweeting from the council meeting tonight as MDHA makes its presentation. The meeting starts at 5p, you can follow the updates here: twitter.com/SupportMCC I will also have some new renderings and other things to post to our Web site tomorrow. I'll let you all know as soon as everything is up. www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com
  3. Good morning, I just wanted to remind you all that Seab Tuck and Terry Clements will be here at 8:30 this Friday to talk with you about the project. I promise to not make you sign in or tell me who you are. I would just love for you all to hear the facts straight from the experts and be able to ask them all of your questions. The details are below. I hope to see you Friday morning. 8:30a 611 Commerce St., Suite 2800 (Top of the Renaissance Hotel) Go to the third floor of the Renaissance Hotel, there is a separate bank of elevators for the office suites. It says Tower Office Suites or something on the wall. We are on the 28th floor, the receptionist will direct you to the meeting room. For those that cannot make it, I will post a recap on here Friday afternoon.
  4. Good morning, I have some high-res versions of the floor plans now so you all can see everything in more detail. Unfortunately the files are too large to post to our Web site without slowing down the site too much. Instead, I have uploaded them to our ftp site. Let me know if you have any trouble. You should be able to zoom in enough to read everything. http://review.mpf.com/uploads/MusicCityCenterPlans Please keep in mind, these floor plans are not final.
  5. I posted this to the Charrette also, I just wanted to make sure I reached everyone... I have been talking with MDHA, Seab Tuck and Terry Clements from the CVB today about the comments and concerns you all have voiced here. In an attempt to give you all of the facts and answers to your questions, I'd like to invite you all to come to the McNeely Pigott & Fox offices to meet with Seab and Terry. They will present our speakers bureau presentation which lays out all of the facts on the economic development/tourism aspect and the design side of things. Following that, we will have plenty of time for Q&A and discussion. Seab and Terry know this project inside and out. I would love for you all to make it. Friday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 a.m. 611 Commerce Street, Ste. 2800 (Top of the Renaissance Hotel) Please let me know if you able to attend. Send me a message on here or e-mail me, [email protected]. I want to answer all of your questions, but there are just some things I don't have the design or econ development background needed to do so, that is why I have asked Seab and Tuck to meet with you all independently of the public meetings. I will re-post this as a reminder in the coming weeks.
  6. I don't know, but I am working on getting you all an answer. I will post something as soon as I am able to talk with someone.
  7. The meeting went well. We had a great turnout - it was in the meeting room at the Adventure Science Center and it was at standing room only. The Mayor and a couple Councilmen were there also. We didn't have the small group discussions this time, just a Q&A session with the full group. There were some great questions and got some more good feedback. You can view updates from the meeting on our Twitter page too: twitter.com/SupportMCC
  8. Thanks for all the great feedback. I will definitely pass along to MDHA. I love reading about you all love/hate/want to change about the project. Everyone looks at it and sees something different, so it is great to get different perspectives.
  9. There hasn't been any decision on hotel height at this point. There should be news on that front in February or early March. The only discussion about the hotel yesterday was just regarding the potential sites and that the hotel construction will run parallel to the MCC construction. If you look at the images on our site you can see the little models for potential hotels. This is not necessarily what they will look like, just where they would be. http://www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com/aboutUs/design.php
  10. Regarding the height of the building - I don't know the exact numbers, but it will be taller than both the arena and the CMHOF. The actual above ground height will vary because of the slope of SoBro. 6th will remain open, it will run through the building. They have incorporated a big drop off area on 6th for tour buses, vans, etc. The new KVB announcements were the movement of the MCC administrative offices to that side and that MDHA is working with the Musicians Hall of Fame to hopefully relocate them to that side also, down near the 8th Ave proposed roundabout. There will also be retail, entrances into the center from KVB and access to the rooftop ballrooms. The brick wall you see in the pictures is not indicative of what it will look like. These designs are still in the early stages. They focused on the layout, movement in the building, sightlines back to the skyline, etc. At the next public meeting you will get to see a much more accurate representation of what the finished product will look like. My favorite thing so far is the set up along Demonbreun and all of the natural light. That whole side will be floor-to-ceiling windows with great views of the city. This is where the main escalators will be located (there will be vertical movement elsewhere also) and all floors will open up to this area. The architects really wanted a bulding that will make people feel like they are in Nashville while inside. So many convention centers are like dark holes with no natural light or really any sense of what city you are in. Even the exhibit hall will have a glazed wall along 8th to allow in natural light. The loading docks are a great feature, PHofKS. They have combined the docks with the arena's docks also. So instead of having trucks coming in on KVB for the MCC and Demonbreun for the arena, all will come through the MCC KVB entrance. There will be off-site marshalling to make sure there are not back-ups on KVB or trucks blocking the retail on KVB.
  11. Thanks for letting me know. The image size has been doubled and should work much better. Let me know if you have any trouble.
  12. OK, we have some stuff up on the Web site for you all to check out. http://www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com/aboutUs/design.php. Videos are loading to Facebook now. When I am done, there will be five, so check back if you only see a couple now. It is not the whole presentation, just little snippets. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=52297878199. I want to hear all of your feedback. I will compile everything and send over to MDHA at the end of the week. They announced today some new things to ensure activation on the KVB side of the building, which was a direct result of feedback from previous public meetings. So, they are listening, just send me brief specific things and i will make sure it gets passed along. I'll be pulling things off of here, but you can also e-mail me directly at [email protected].
  13. Just a quick note about it looking plain. Seab and Andy mentioned that what was shown today is preliminary and is focused on the bigger aspects of the building - movement through the building, floor plans, sight lines, etc. They will now take feedback from today's meeting and move into the more detailed things like the exterior, commercial fronts, etc. There are many more pictures than what the Tennessean ran this morning. I will have them on the Web site this afternoon. The roof is not meant to look like a guitar. The curves are meant to reflect the hills of Middle Tennessee. The green space down the middle is just to illustrate that there will be a green roof, it will not necessarily all be green in color. I will post more later this afternoon. I am trying to get our Web site updated with the slides, photos and video from the meeting. I just wanted to check in. I'll let you guys know when everything is up so you can check it out if you missed the meeting.
  14. Haha, I would love to, but I haven't even seen them yet myself.
  15. Good morning, I just wanted to remind you all the next public meeting is tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., at the Adventure Science Center. The design team will be sharing the preliminary designs and some news regarding the KVB side of the building. I hope you can all make it. I will be toward the front somewhere with a laptop and Flip camera - come say hi! If you cannot make it, I will be posting live updates to our Twitter page from the meeting - http://twitter.com/supportmcc. We will also post some of the slides, photos and video from the meeting on our Web site, www.nashvillemusiccitycenter.com, and Facebook group, http://tinyurl.com/aeoumw.
  16. The mass transit issue is a whole separate beast from the MCC. But I can tell you that public transportation has been a consideration in the location and design. At one of the public meetings, Seab Tuck identified the several key site influences including connecting the the MCC with a greenway to the Gulch and to the Pedestrian bridge, and a trolley route around downtown.
  17. Thank you for the warm welcome. Timmay, unfortunately I am not the one you have to convince on the hotel height, but I can certainly pass your recommendations on to MDHA.
  18. Nashvylle, MDHA plans to present the final design to Mayor Dean and the Council in the Spring, and then begin construction later this year. Thank you for your support. If you have not done so already, you can e-mail [email protected] to sign up for our supporter's list. We will be posting some slides from the public meeting to our Web site. I will be sure to post the link here when they are up.
  19. Good morning, everyone, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Amanda and I work for MDHA's public relations firm, McNeely Pigott & Fox. I am here as a resource to you all on the MCC project. I have a couple of new things to share: 1. The next public meeting has been announced. It will be on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 8:30 a.m., at the Adventure Science Center. The design team will be unveiling the preliminary designs for the MCC at this meeting. 2. MDHA has created a Web site completely devoted to its Diversity Business Enterprise Program. Please visit www.musiccitycenterdbe.com for more information about DBE opportunities. The main convention center Web site, www.nashvillemusicitycenter.com, is another great resource for more information. I will be on here pretty frequently if you have any questions or comments, or you can also e-mail me at [email protected]. - Amanda
