excuse me if this is a repeat question - haven't been in here for a few months (busy mom of 3 kids!). does anyone know what is going to be built behind the promenade? not sure if it's just housing or what back there...but they sure have leveled a lot of land. also, does anyone know what is going on with the field next to kroger? again, another big plot of land they have leveled. ??? we've been living up the hill from the promenade for 3 years and have seen SO much growth - it's awesome! when we moved here the land had just been flattened. we watched them build the entire center...and it's exciting to see businesses opening up in there. i would LOVE an apple store. my mac is on the fritz and that little mac shop here in town doesn't cut it anymore. thanks for the help! my husband and i are always dreaming of "what could" go onto those lots....as many of you are doing, i'm sure.

looks like the new stop lights they added are blinking - but not working yet. these are the stop lights that allow you to turn in and out of the center on chenal parkway...just down the way a bit from rahling road. i can't wait to see how the place looks by friday, when the theater is opening. speaking of the theater, anyone else hearing the radio spots about the grand opening? they are saying this weekend all popcorn and drinks will be $.50...all proceeds going to charity. how great! we are desperately trying to find a sitter so we can see sex and the city at the new theater. saw the aeropostle sign, too. like architect said, i think it would be a great location for apple b/c you KNOW the kids and teens will be hanging out at this mall. with the theater and shops and restaurants and ice cream shop...apple would have great business from that demographic. i am still holding out hope apple with come to the promenade. maybe we should all start calling steve jobs and demand the store go in at the promenade. if he hears some of our voices, maybe he'll move it forward. of course, i'm kidding...but it wouldn't hurt to call and try.

well, we drove through the Promenade this morning. we were heading down the hill and saw a few random cars exiting the center. my husband figured 'what the heck' and we drove in to check it out...or at least check out what we could access by car. it's starting to shape up. a few things to note: *i didn't realize there as a parking lot on the back side of the center. the whole lot is paved back there and looks nice. center is very pretty from the rear just as it is from the front view (the side facing chenal parkway). *did anyone else know there was a mimi/motherhood maternity store going in? i don't recall seeing that on the store list we were keeping here...but it's there. i was surprised to see it. not pleasantly surprised...i still think a babystyle would have done SO well in that center. anyway, the store is there and is just a couple doors up from... *portrait innovations. their sign is up, as well. we couldn't get in much farther than driving around to the back. they haven't paved the middle section yet and there were workers there...otherwise, we would have hopped out of the car and walked through the middle. what i do want to say is i think this center would have done much much much better if they didn't have any driving or parking in the center. i think this town needs an outdoor mall where kids can run and roam free. this center will be tough on families with small children. the kids will HAVE to be restrained in a stroller or something. my children love to run around while we shop...especially after having eaten or if they need a break from mommy shopping / sitting in the stroller for a while. i think we could use a mall with a whole center area for just walking...not parking. they could've put in some cool pop-up fountains for the kids to play in...maybe a little train...something fun to make it more family friendly. instead, cars will be driving up and down the middle of the center. ah well. just my opinion. looks good though!

bbwwwahahahahaaaaa!!! so funny! yes, i noticed the "codwater creek" sign, too! funny! gawd, i am holding out hope for apple to be at the promenade. i soooo need them here!!!!

i live in chenal and drive by the promenade several times a day. i'll post any and all updates on the property when i can... *all of the letters are up on the movie theatre now. it says "chenal 9 imax". *some of the trees have gone in (landscaping) oh...did anyone catch the article in the sunday paper about the promenade? it was interesting. it was in a special little magazine. talked about all of the development in this area and talked about the other malls, as well. they did mention that apple hasn't announced its involvement in the promenade yet - but did say, as we've discussed here, that they do have a plumbing permit. very informative little magazine and nice to read about other developments in the state.

lots going on at the center.... *the actual DSW sign is up. they have removed the temporary hanging sign. *the movie theater sign is about 1/2way up. it's red and only a few letters were placed by last friday afternoon. *some of the parking lot lighting is now up. looks like things are going to start moving fast now.

wow, yet another disappointing line-up of new stores/restaurants coming to LR. i was hoping for something better in the SC center. ah well. also, with all of the building going on (new shopping centers) you would think it would have been planned out better. in my opinion, all of the promenade stores (with the exception of apple) should have been in SC. even the IMAX seems out of place in the promenade, but i realize SC is pretty close to that RAVE theater. anyway, am really bummed to see this line-up. was in BRU the other day...man, was that place a ghost town. we just moved here from california and all of our BRU stores were totally picked over, disheveled and crowded. this place was amazingly clean, everything in stock, no one there shopping but me and one other woman. i was in heaven! also...am wondering how BRU might survive in that center after walmart arrives. walmart has tons of baby stuff, too...and maybe even more competitive in pricing. i hope walmart doesn't push out BRU. i love seeing them here in town!

i'm so happy to have located this message board. we've been dying to find out what stores are moving into the promenade. we moved here from california, specifically orange county. we are definitely missing the great So Cal shopping. we are not impressed with the list of stores we're reading about here. we've lived in chenal for about 8 months and have the 'impression' that we are living around some pretty high income families. why is the promenade allowing some of the stores on this list given the high income in this area? also, where are the family friendly stores? what about babystyle or janie and jack or a cute little toy store? we are surprised to see stores that aren't catering to children and families in this area. obviously, we are still learning about arkansas and the little rock area. both of us were born and raised in california. but for the state's capital, you think they would have most stores...some bigger named stores, for sure. we have been surprised with what's missing. HOWEVER, we've been saving tons of money on tax and shipping while shopping online. since AR doesn't have many of the stores we are ordering from, you don't pay tax and often times NO SHIPPING, too. that's been nice, but we'd love to have the store here. know what i mean? anyway, a nordstrom would be great. macy's is a bit 'ehhh'. macy's is all over california and it's kinda viewed as an upscale Tj Maxx. a nordstrom would really bring in the high-end retailers. gawd please bring in that apple store. we are a mac family and have been dying to see an apple store around here. they have a great children's area in most apple stores and they offer amazing classes. we have been pleased to see all of the other new centers popping up around town, too...gives us some hope. oh, and we were pleasant;y surprised to see that container store come to town. that is a sign of something great on the horizon.
