Would anyone who normally posts photos throught these many threads be in a position to go out and snap a bunch of photos of the SR 408 widening?
I am unable to get there and I would love to see where this stands
What I am specifically looking for are photos of the new Holland East and West tollbooth plazas, Lake Underhill Bridge, going west bound towards the stadium, the new Expressway Authority building by the Holland East plaza, etc,.
I would greatly appreciate anyone who can accomplish this
Thanks

I agree this is a very airport looking design, what the new future terminal at OIA will probably eventually look like if ever built
I hope security at this place isn't as bad as customs at OIA
How do things stand on the status of the dollar amount of donations at this point?

What exactly is the T-Rex Restaurant and what will it specialize in?

Anyone know the status of the construction of the Florida Turnpike and S.R. 408 interchange improvements that began in mid 2005?

My understanding is that you cannot get Federal funding for a road if it has tolls. Therefore, I think all I (Interstate) roads are toll free and receive federal funds for maintenance and upgrading.
What does that mean for some interstates that still do have tolls?
Are any road upgrades paid by tolls only?
I remember growing up in Jacksonville in the early 80's and I-95 at the Fuller Warren Bridge and further north had toll plazas on the interstate itself
They have long since been removed but they were there for a considerable period of time
I wonder if any construction was toll financed or a combo of federal funding and tolls

Despite the fact that the Dyer win was far more decisive now than before, I wouldn't be surprised if Mulvaney actually demanded another recount like before
Some people don't fade away as they should

Well if the local market and real estate market turns around, let the good times roll for another 4 years!!!!
Dyer Re-Elected As Orlando Mayor
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The incumbent Buddy Dyer defeated Ken Mulvaney in the race for Orlando mayor.
Sixty percent of voters chose Dyer and 40 percent voted for Mulvaney.
A happy Dyer thanked his supporters at the Dubsdread golf course in Orlando Tuesday night

DOT Plans To Remove Problem Intersection
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Central Florida intersection, infamous for its congestion troubles, is on track for a makeover, but not everybody's happy with the suggested fix.
To fix the intersection, road planners are suggesting it be removed.

Architects lined up for Orlando arts center, stadium
The Orlando City Council today OK'd a contract with the main architect for the new performing arts center.
The agreement is between HKS Inc. and the Dr. P. Phillips Performing Arts Center, but the council must approve the deal. The contract will pay HKS a base fee of $4.5 million, with another $4.3 million going to the company's local partner, Baker Barrios architects. Most of the rest will go to subcontractors.

According to this link it includes the 50/436 "interchange."
Aren't they also planning to widen S.R. 50 from Ocoee all the way out to Clermont?
I could swear I remember hearing about that some time ago

I drove by it in the dark about a week ago and the only thing i saw was the tower which was still there but the Titanic building was half gone. Everything else seemed to be gone.

Anyone know if the Mercado demolition has gone into full gear yet or not?

And the hits at City Place just keep on coming....
March deadline set for claims in Lexington case
ORLANDO -- People who paid deposits for units at the Lexington condo hotel in downtown Orlando now have until March 21 to claim some of that money back.
But that offer could be extended to others not involved in the Lexington's sales, much to the chagrin of the condo-hotel depositors.

I'm ganking this photo (and retouching it) from a new SSP thread because it's such a unique perspective of the Downtown Orlando skyline and too good not to share with everybody here. Hope the original poster doesn't mind.
This picture actually makes it look like we have a respectable skyline!
This is an awesome photo!!
The perspective of this angle shows off great density thereby not creating the spaced out perspective the skyline usually shows in other photos

"Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?"
"May I see it?"
Gotta love those Steamed Hams in spite of their striking resemblence to a Krusty Burger

True but don't forget, Amway Arena was once the TD Waterhouse Center
Orlando Events Center isn't all that bad
At this point, I'm willing to take the Steak and Shake Center over Amway anyday

Here are some snapshots of the newly constructed and opened Prudential Center in Newark, NJ as a guide for arena design
Notice it also has a glass tower that adds to the archictecture outside and serves as a grand entrance going inside
Here is an image of the old Continental Airlines Arena that the Prudential Center replaced
The difference is clearly night and day
Out with the busted beat up and in with the sleek bad ass

A couple of notes about the new arena mentioned during halftime of the Magic game:
-800,000 sq. ft. - I think they said the current arena is 360,000 sq. ft.
-120-foot tower with club and observation deck that can be open 365 days a year.
-3 retail locations at street-level on Church Street.
I believe the 360,000 sq. ft estimate of the current arena is correct
The new one is meant to be double the size

Me like it much!!!!!!
Nice design, something quite futuristic, 21st century design to it
This is a great addition to drive by on I-4

Any update on the final phase of the Arts Center, when it's going to start construction in order to complete the whole place?
