The new Rhino Market is open and they will soon be printing money with hundreds of apartments in walking distance coming online. Try one of their sandwiches.

I think this is Optimist Park even though it’s literally on N.Davidson street? I’m fuzzy on the boundaries.

Funny you mentioned that I saw this sign at the Bradham the Lennar Pepsi plant apartments and if this was an advertisement for the Bradham it missed the mark I think.

I did some work in that factory. Made me not want to eat honeybuns or miniature donuts anymore.

Anyone remember The Goodyear House that was to open in NoDa at least 4 years ago? Per their Facebook page they plan to open in summer of 2019. Is this ever actually going to happen?

They have added an enormous addition to the house over the last 3-4 months. Still a lot of work to do, but Summer 2019 seems feasible.

Does anyone know how the focus group meetings went?   It's interesting to see how this plays out.   I am not that informed on what's going on with the MLS but it seems like the final expansion slot will go to St. Louis, Sacramento or San Diego?   Supposedly we could pass them with a better plan and with Tepper's money?   There also seems to be another round of expansion in the MLS to get it to the same number of teams as the NFL.   I guess we could wait for second round?

All the attendees had to sign NDAs. That doesn't mean someone won't leak it, but it doesn't appear to have happened yet.

Just going to pop in and say that Sweet Lew's in Belmont is creepin' up the charts for best BBQ in Charlotte.  If y'all haven't had the chance to stop by, I highly recommend it. The owner is there day in and day out working his a** off and is cranking out a top notch quality product. Love that they just season the pork itself and let you choose your own sauces. Tried them all and the White BBQ (for chicken but i'd put it on everything) stood out to me.

They have rotating daily specials including Turkey Tuesdays / Hash Wednesday / Sausage Saturday and Fried Chicken on Sundays. Get the banana pudding. They are doing a brunch now too, so if BBQ Brisket Burritos are your thing you can get that from 10:30 on.  Go try it and tell me it's not some of the best BBQ you've had in Charlotte. I'm going back to try the chicken this weekend.

The meat itself is excellent. I'm not a fan of their sauces though. The eastern NC sauce has the consistency (and sort of the taste) of Italian salad dressing.

Meat is among the best in Charlotte, but they need to do work on their sauces. I've eaten there with others and they had the same opinion.

This is the EB Arrow rezoning for University Place and it is quite the mixed used project proposed.  Retail, a library ?,  offices and residential on the site of existing big box center.  Possibly those exisiting tenants would move across the street but this is exciting for this area.

Not bad but I would have preferred more commercial space right along the lake personally.

The whole building? I thought they were dividing the building up into 3 different spaces? That stinks if true...

I can't imagine a smoke shop would take up that whole building. The price per SF in that building was marketed pretty high and the whole building is pretty large. The economics wouldn't work for someone to be leasing the whole building for that purpose.

Just recently, a young women inquired on FB about a job at Red Ventures. There were 26 responses. Every one of them, EVERY ONE was essentially: “Are you out of your mind ?”

really just depends on the job. Being on the sales team sucks IMO, but the corporate positions can be good.

  9. I stopped into the new BBQ spot in Belmont today beside Siggy's. They did a nice job with the spot. The BBQ was okay. Brunswich stew was quite good IMO.

The brick building across the street appears as though it will be a vet clinic. Belmont is really starting to come along. I like that there are several retail spots scattered throughout the neighborhood.

I've lived in Charlotte for three decades and I've never seen it snow once in December (except last year when it peppered). I'm not holding my breath.

When I was in middle school (late 90s), i remember it snowing very hard all day on November 18th. I remember it because that is my mother's birthday. Barely any stuck though because the ground was very warm.
