  1. Hey all, Carytown Wine and Beer is offically closed. I also got an email from the owners of Acapella on Monday. They closed 1/31 because they lost their lease and they're not actively looking for a new one. I did not, however, hear about Cafe Gutenberg, one of my local favorites! That's terrible.
  2. I think they're just still waiting on the ice. They haven't given me a recent update, but the last I heard it was March (maybe late Feb. for the ice bar).
  3. Hey, I just posted this, but I don't know where it went. I posted it as a "new topic." Anyway, I just got this press release from Infuzion: Hello there! Infuzion, the new club in Scott's Addition, will be opening to the public for the first time today! The Bistro & Lounge will be open for dinner starting at 5pm. Be among the first to catch a glimpse
  4. I didn't. The unoffical word is that the soft opening is this Saturday, but they never called me back to confirm I could print it. I'm still waiting for another return call, but it might actually be on Saturday. I'm also waiting for some info on a possible new restaurant going in place of Mio's in the west end. Karri
  5. Burt, I'm working on an update for my Dish column tomorrow. Right now I'm waiting to hear back from the PR people with the official opening info. Right now it looks like they might open very soon, only sans Ice Bar. I'm not sure what the hold up is ... maybe all the polar ice caps officially melted. I'm hoping to have more in time for my deadline. Karri
  6. Thanks Burt, for the shout out and help with recruiting a new restaurant reviewer. I was actually in NYC last weekend. I ate at No. 28 in the west village... best pizza of my life. I also tried Supper in what I think was NoHo, but I'm not sure. You've got a great town, but I feel for y'all this time of year. This was my first NYC trip at Christmas... and last - too crowded for me. Anyway, on to the reviewer. We're running it as a contest of sorts. In the past, RDC has had a lot of response from readers who want to review restaurants (and, yes, dine for free), but a lot of them have no experience. The contest details are available on the site, but this gets unpublished foodies an opportunity to get started, if you know any. In the meantime, I have a tidbit from my next "Dish" column that I don't think has been on the board yet. LuLu's, in Shockoe Bottom, is open. Paul Keevil, of Millie's, is involved: http://lu-lusrichmond.com/index.html
  7. Hi all. I'm new to this board, but I read it from time to time. I write a couple of Richmond restaurant columns for Richmond.com and I just wanted to add that my last "Dish" column had updated restaurant news on Infuzion, as well as some new restaurant news. You can read it here: http://www.richmond.com/restaurants-dining/23156 More importantly, though, you may have seen at the end of our last published restaurant review: http://www.richmond.com/restaurants-dining/23158 that Richmond.com is searching for a few new restaurant reviewers. I just wanted to put an FYI out there for people who are already active in the Richmond foodie scene. If you, or anyone you know, is interested, feel free to contact me for more details. Thanks, Karri
