Again, I’ll believe it when I see it. The proposal, at least the details that have been shared thus far, doesn’t make much sense to me. For example, is there a need for a new office tower (currently or in the near future)? The office market is down nationally (post COVID) and many cities with a much bigger corporate presence are struggling to fill the space.

if I ran the world, I’d scrap the office and replace it with additional residential. I’d keep the hotel but dramatically increase the meeting space to tap into the small and mid sized conference market. And I’d use that, along with activities at the arena, to lure national retailers. Lastly, I’d also ditch the 3,500 seat performance venue (too much competition the immediate area with DPAC, etc).

    Exactly.  Hotel and residential only.

With one caveat. Make the residential a 550 ft tower.  😎

Ok, I get it. It is still "Orlando sized" and that is somewhat disappointing. It is on a scale of a Sky-house, Modera, Society, and the Hotel at S+ED.  Typical Orlando stuff, not a mega-block or tall project.

I am just hoping we get CSP II - The Edge started soon. I actually really like that project (especially for Baker Barrios). Still nothing on that site.

CSP II - The Edge  Is the one I am really hoping for.

  3. This is the equivalent to building a park under a railroad trestle or next to a sewage treatment plant.  It’s as lame as dumping more money into the tangerine/citrus bowl stadium.   Just dumb, horrible ideas.  Jmo of course.

Ok I get what you are saying. I am so used to people blaming the train for peoples stupidity that I automatically read it through that lens.

I do hate for people to die violently, but Darwin had a point.

I grew up in Melbourne.  I am trying to be nice… to avoid stating the obvious… it is idiotic to try and beat a train.  Darwin wins again.

Worrisome? Its not like trains sneak up on you and surprise you. You have to want to get hit by a train.

Worrisome if you like Brightline.  Worrisome if you don’t like service interruptions.  Worrisome if you don’t want Brightline getting bad press.  Worrisome if you hate for people to die violently.

Moreover, they were all build around rail. There are so many corridors primed for renovated/replaced tracks.

Unbridled development throughout unincorporated county areas and with little to no growth boundaries—instead of within the limits of these traditional towns and cities—really did a disservice to the historic towns and beautiful nature that makes Central Florida special.

Just for fun, a while back I traced some existing rail lines to see what kind of a system you could get out of it. Other than running an elevated train down Colonial and Semoran, everything else should be easy to accomplish on existing tracks / in existing right-of-ways.

Would really love to see that red line up toward Eustis. I think it would have great ridership.   Huge game changer for communities like Apopka.

I like Biden the man, who is by his own nature and instincts, an old-school moderate centrist.

Unfortunately, the reality of politics means that the extreme left elements of the Democratic Party voting base are able to succeed in pulling him over towards their side on some issues, just like the extreme right wields similar power over Republican leaders.

But Biden has managed to get some good bipartisan things accomplished and that is a noteworthy achievement in today's world.

I would love to see the rise of a viable, centrist third party that was equally comprised of moderate Democrats and Republicans sick of all the extremist nonsense, and whose membership was big enough to seriously challenge the other two parties.

There is something afoot with a group calling itself No Labels, but I'm not sure if it's legit or if it's a ruse by conservatives to draw voters away from the Democrats.

I was just reading about them.  I am a moderate Republican. … a dinosaur with no party in this day and age. Tim Scott is who the wife and I are pulling for.   Biden the Centrist would have been Fiume with me.  I thought Bill Clinton was a very good President.

Yeah, and the Biden bribe "evidence" isn't really even evidence.

It's  document from some shady FBI informant that alleges Biden was involved in some bribery scheme.

And of course we know what ol' Joe calls it....

    "A buncha malarkey!!!!"

Personally I detest both Biden and Trump and the current state of our politics. I think the Republic is in grave trouble.  I will go with a third party candidate next time around. 🍻
