  1. Wow Johnny, did you have a sarcasm class this semester? :P Guess I finally mention my thoughts on this subject we've gotten on. I believe there could be some odd possibility that maybe there are some strange creatures we haven't had much contact with. Giant squids are now known to exist, before they were mainly just a myth. As far as many of these creatures are concerned I just don't think it's too likely and I will have to see more scientific proof. I won't say there's no absolute way any of these other creatures exist. But I find it unlikely until there is more evidence. But I guess it does make for some interesting stories. :D

Oh, I don't doubt that there are many creatures (esp. in the ocean) that exist and haven't been discovered.

Giant squids were repeatedly seen by many witnesses. That's the difference. Giant squids were eventually documented in some form or fashion.

The issue I had with the article is how it tried to paint scientists. As all scientists should, these scientists wanted more evidence before declaring, "OMG !!111!! wwee D1sc0v3red a PLEOSAUR! ROck On d00ds!"

If some amateur naturalist had seen the ivory billed woodpecker, and wasn't really able to realize the significance of it.........then its existence would never have been confirmed.

  2. Sorry it took me so long to say so but... Welcome to the forum!

I believe there could be some truth to some of them. By the way, we HAVE come across a dead specimen. Check it out...

You can read an entire article on it here.

Wow....not only this "article" against evolutionists----it's for mythical creatures as well!

Scientists claimed it could be a "badly decomposed basking shark":

But those crazy evolutionists just refuse to see the truth! This one specimen caught in the 1970s was CLEARLY a plesiosaur.

  3. Somebody's probably posted these photos of the Alotian club already, but I'll do it again.

They're from Arkansas Business and Golf Digest. As you probably recall, the Alotian was ranked the #1 private course of 2005.

  4. Glad you made it over bigboyz. I invited a few of the arkansas members from skyscrapercity over here (arkansasbuff was another, and two others). I've invited people from other forums too, but they usually don't come over (or if they do, the post only a few times).

As you can tell, I get pretty jealous of the Texarkana, TX side.

  5. Projects just completed or on the drawing board:

Intermodal facility will sonn be under construction. Legacy Tower will be a mixed use office and retail development due to be completed by 2008. Downtown Auditorium is being renovated. Old Burhman Pharr building is being converted into lofts downtown. Downtown grocery is under construction. A 1,000 home project is taking shape on the west side. An 11 story apartment building has just started construction. A massive civic and sports complex is under construction on the Arkanside side. It will have areas for baseball, soccer, football, basketball, tennis as well as swimming pools. In addition it will have an arena that holds up to 6,000 and will be used for concerts, Texarkana Bandits hockey games and conventions. Taking shape near this facility will be a huge development that will feature hotels, restaurants, retail, bars, apartments and more. Southern Refrigerated Trucking has broken ground on 40 acres for it's new facility that will create more than 1,550 jobs. Precision Steamroll Grinders has just completed construction of it's factory.

Among the many retailers, restaurants, educational/medical facilities and hotels coming to the city or just opened include Best Buy, Citi Trends clothing store, Alfredo's Italian Restaurant, Ruby Tuesdays, Coldstone Creamery, Talbot's Department Store, Sav-A-Lot, Travel Inn Plaza Hotel, Goodies, Hooters, Olive Garden, TGI Friday, Ross Dress For Less, Burlington Coat Factory, Gander Mountain, New York Burrito, UPS Store, Starbucks, 2 new Bank of the Ozarks, B Jaxx, Beehive Shoe Outlet, Fred's, Texas A&M is building a new university here that once completed will serve up to 15,000 students, Old Navy, a brand new 200 bed medical center, Shoe Carnival, a 31,000 sq. ft. urology building, Ironwood Grill, 2 Cato's, Pet Smart, Home Depot, Budget Inn, Texas Bank and Trust and several apartment complexes including Chapel Ridge and Lacey Apartments.

As far as transportation goes I-30 is set to be widened to 6 lanes because the traffic has gotten so heavy. When I-30 was first built through Texarkana it was designed for a traffic count of no more than 50,000 but currently our traffic count is well over 80,000. I-49, known locally as Arkansas 549, has been built from Texarkana to Doddridge or just 5 miles north of the La stateline. Louisiana is said to start construction of the Shreveport to Arkansas stateline section soon. Also a spur of I-69 will be built between Marshall, Tx and Texarkana. The southern loop has already been constructed. A northern loop will soon be constructed around the northern part of town and will be the meeting place of the future I-69 spur which will run along the extreme western edge of the city and I-49 North. Texarkana Regional Airport is undergoing a major reconstruction of the terminal and runways with the addition of another airline, Continental, setting up shop. While the Texas side has always eclipsed the Arkansas side as far as growth is concerned it seems like the Arkansas side is making a big comeback! We've always been a major pit stop between Dallas and Little Rock but, now we're the business, transportation, shopping, medical and soo to be entertainment 0hub of the entire N.E. Texas, S.E. Oklahoma and much of Southern Arkansas. You guys should come and check us out.

I can safely assume that all these projects are taking place on the Texas side, unless specifically noted otherwise, right?

Congratulations Texarkana, TX, you are growing quite fast.

    Meh.

  6. I'm with you. Clinton NEVER received more than half the vote, and his approval ratings were often at the 40% mark.

Wasn't there an attept at starting a cigar lounge on Clinton Ave??? I thought some of the local radio DJ's tried to get one off the ground, but somehow it fell through.

And thus the oversimplification process begins.

Clinton never received more than half the vote. True. But Bush and Kerry did not have a major third party candidate in the battle (like Ross Perot). Out of the two available candidates, Bush got the majority. The 50% mark means nothing. (Besides that, Gore had a higher popular vote in 2000.)

True, Clinton often had approval ratings around 40%.....in the beginning of his first term. Clinton AND Reagan had ~60-70% approval ratings at this point in their second terms.

In my opinion, it's amazing Bush even has 37% approval.

So the question is: Can someone give Bush a blowjob already so that we can impeach him? (Forget the war and 8 trillion dollar deficit http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...&sn=003&sc=910)

As for the Bush library, I could see it get a high attendance or a low attendance. Bush supporters are the most stalwart of all political supporters. They will support him no matter the situation (he's just human after all, guffaw!) Plus he is a pretty controversial guy. Then again, maybe he has such a low approval rating that not so many people will be interested.

  7. Weee.... i didn't notice :-D

I'm really proud of the Arkansas forum, Mith and Matt particularly.

Yes, yes, I must brag: I was the first member of Urbanplanet from Arkansas. Eerr...at least the ffirst active one. Hhehe.

I haven't been too active lately though....too hectic of a schedule.

  8. I'm totally 100% for a NWA forum. They have a large active base and can chat incessantly about topics that really don't have that much of an effect on me :-D .

I'm not so sure about a Little Rock forum...when something is mentioned about LR, it mainly is something fairly big.....so there is not as much discussion. I'm indifferent on Little Rock.....subforum or not works.
