  1. Probably been done before, but at least there is a photo of the day
  2. Some one mentioned to me yesturday that the city was going to put into place a ban on hourly hotel rates. I don't see that being helpful to a place like this: I don't know what is better, a business that supports crime or a vacant building that supports crime.
  3. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Anyone know what is going on here by the National African American History Museum and The Science Center?? ------------------------------------------------------------------- It is always nice to see a parking garage being torn down. Whats going in its place?
  4. Adaptive reuses anyone?? and you can't say luxury lofts, that's a cop-out.
  5. Finally got up and took some pictures of the stadium today. Thought this one was pretty symbolic. About 120 more pics here.
  6. On Forbes most fuel efficient american neighborhoods, the last city I expected to see on it was Detroit. But low and behold it the Woodward corridor was slide number 7 of the slide show. Here is the whole picture article.
  7. Something positive on how safe Detroit is, what a shocker!
  8. Guess where I went last night. Here are some panoramas I pieced together. To see more Click Here. And this one is from last Friday after the parade.
  9. The Guardian Building. The architecture is very unique.
  10. I really wanted to badly go to the Brownfields Conference this week but due to my new job I couldn't. The only press I have seen on the conference was in model D. Anyone have any first hand experience or knowledge on any possible development or clean up as a direct result of the conference?
  11. This came from the planetizen.com home page. Debating Detroit's Redevelopment I found parts of both of these views quite on point.
  12. Even though there was some sign of life on the River Walk it seemed pretty desolate on this past Friday afternoon. Looks like the original metal signage around here didn't last long. It has already been lifted and replaced with these plastic ones.
  13. Was in Grosse Ile the other day on a field trip with fellow planning students. Got the opertunity to go up on the roof of the old Navy Airport which is now the Township Hall. It wasn't the best day for pictures and this is all I got. Trenton Power Plant The Airfield
  14. I'm not sure if this has been discussed in a different forum or not but here in ypsi we will be voting on a city wide income tax tomorrow. There is quite a debate on why the tax is needed. Many say it is because of the water street project. Has anyone heard of this. The city has about 40+ acres availible for brown field redevelopment. Many say the taxes on this property is killing the cities budget and thats why they want the tax. There have been many ideas for the project. One being a mixed use PUD with housing along the river and business on Michigan Ave. Another was the possibility of Ypsi getting a minor league baseball team and would create a weekend tourist/sports area with shops and all that good stuff much like Comerica Park. This doesn't seem to be gaining speed either however. The latest I've heard was possibly a frisbee golf park. I was wondering what anyone here would think would be an appropriate development here? If you are not familiar with the Water Street area it was be the ran down blighted area East of the Huron River on Michigan Ave and then I believe most of it reaches all the way over to Grove St. I have been on the property to look at it but it didn't give me the safest feeling in the world. Let's here your thoughts.
