  1. Yes, I have the same problem. I keep seeing new windows all over town. In storefronts along the stretch of Davison (near 14th) leading right into the freeway there looks like work in the storefronts (which makes me glad because it's about time this side of town saw something beyond strip malls) and along Woodward approaching Boston-Edison you can see them demolishing this little duplex but they left one half standing. And as if that weren't kind of odd, the apartment house next to it has that circle painted on the door for demolition but there are new windows. This region is truly nuts sometimes, I must be in love, which of course makes me nuts as well. WS
  2. Welcome to the forum DetroitWonk. WS
  3. Whatever your intention that's a very lovely picture. Especially since I have a deep affection for the New Center area. WS
  4. As long as they have a Marshall Fields I'll be happy... Of course there's plenty of room for error. WS
  5. But it also depends on how it's built and what kind of stores are inside. Personally I would like to see something like Watertower place in Chicago. Or any of those malls along Michigan Ave... *sighs* WS
  6. Just had to note that you forgot the Michigan Chronicle when listing newspapers. But a lovely collection nonetheless Allan. WS
  7. Is that how they kept those bulls on display in Chicago? They were there when I went to go visit my aunt in Chicago in the seventh grade and they were still there when I went to college... Ech. LN
  8. Well thank you, but my task bar is blocking it anyhow. But again, thank you. Everyone already appreciates the pure classic design of our city (something I get bitter about leaving behind everyday when I head out to the suburbs to worka nd have to stare at Birmingham's uninspired design...) so I won't mention it too much except that it truly stands out in your photo. WS
  9. I'm currently using this as my wallpaper. Very excellent shot to remind me of how much I love this place though I'm missing Chicago. WS
  10. I walked from New Center to Midtown (Cass Corridor) after work today and was pleasantly overwhelmed by just the general sweetness of the neighborhoods without the smugness and impersonal distance of the suburbs (I work in Birmingham). But then I became depressed considering our current situation and missing Chicago a little too much. This place is far too amazing to have such problems and such a lack of population. But I'm sure everyone agrees with that sentiment. WS
  11. They used a rail system to move it a few hundred feet down Woodward. I'm not sure about how it looked before on the inside. WS
