  1. Cricket, I'm stumped on your picture's location. I'm leaning toward the West End...

gsupstate, I like the new billboard! Thanks for capturing it and sharing.

johnpro318, I like your vantage point from River Street. It's not a view typically seen, YET anyway.

GvilleSC, it is located on the Centre Stage building on River Street (behind the Poinsett, old courthouse and Symphany building).

I agree with GvilleSC, johnpro318, a good vantage point!

  2. Well, by golly, you've got my business! Going to the hot dog king was a spur-of-the-moment thing as I was walking back to the car. I'd never been there before... and I'll never go back.

And.... how will I know you? What days do you normally work?

I have only met one of you from this web site at my cart. I wish more of you that stopped there would introduce yourselves.

As far as the sticker goes the city was giving them out last year. They stopped giving them out but I could get some more. Give me a few weeks and I will get some for whoever wants. But only on one condition. You have to stop by the cart while I'am there and Introduce yourself to pick up the sticker.

Thanks RT for the comments about the dogs.

Oh and Cricket, my dogs are better than the Hot Dog Kings. ;)

I was going to put a sign on my cart that read ' Even a King can be Overthrone '

But I didnt want to start any trouble. :o

  3. According to this video, it is only supposed to last about 1 second when the camera is turned on or off.

Thanks, Chick. I guess mine has a major problem. I sent an email in to Canon and I'll wait to hear what they say but it looks like I may just return it and get another. It's hung up or something as it cycles continuously for about a minute and does so numerous times during use. It's wiping the battery out.

  4. Figured since I don't expect to have many opportunities to post in the coming days that I would go ahead and add another shot for today:

    Friday, 20-JUL-2007, PM Edition:

Skyliner, these are great! I love the pastel skies in the first one and the second is just grand! Thanks for posting them.

  5. I haven't noticed the cleaning cycle to be intrusive at all. It only last a couple of seconds at most in my experience.

Then something must be wrong with mine, because it clicks along for 45 seconds to a minute. I'll check with Canon to see just how long it is supposed to run.

  6. Welcome aboard! Which flash did you get? The 580 Mk II? Also, you've gotta tell me how you like that automatic sensor cleaning feature once you finally get around to using it. I don't know of any sales, but you may want to shop around a bit. I usually go through B&H Photo out of NY, but they're not always the best price. I've not been out to get any photos in Greenville recently, but I'm sure I'll have the itch to get out and snap some when I get home.

Oh PLEASE, RT... I work for the government... I don't make 580 Mk II money! When I said a big ole honkin' flash, I wasn't talking expensive... I was talking BIG. I got a Quantaray QTB9550D Bounce Flash and Canon module. I've never had a problem with Quantaray products and am not afraid to buy them. But they are not known for compactness.

As for the automatic sensor cleaner, it gets tiring real fast when its enabled to start every time the camera is turned on or off. I disabled that almost immediately. After changing a lens and using the camera the cleaner starts when you turn the camera off. I noticed that it starts if you let the auto shut off time run out... so here I go walking around taking some time in between shots and the darn thing just starts a cleaning cycle (which lasts about a minute).

  7. Going through the old archives here...

    July 19, 2007 - A.M. Edition:

I have joined the ranks of Canon Rebelites... just purchased a Canon 400D (Rebel XTi) with a 18-55mm, a 70-300mm, big ole honkin' flash, and new filters... still have to get a 50mm 1.4... Eric, know of any sales?!?! Anyhow, I'm rejuvinated and ready to snap me some pics!

  8. This photo was an attempt to capture the comfort of the shady gardens around Falls Cottage on a Sunday morning.

And capture it you did! I've got something of the same shot but sans people. I like yours better with the people enjoying the shady gardens. I am usually downtown between 7 and 8 in the a.m. and people are few and far between at that time of day.
