  1. Jerry Orr, from what I remember, had received EIS approval on 2 different occasions to extend 18C-36C to 12,000ft. Seemingly they didn't want to close W Blvd to do so. They probably could have done so with extending both ends by 1000ft, with displaced landing thresholds, but after all said & done, it will have taken 20+ years for a longer runway from when it was first approved and at a much higher cost.
  2. What needs to be on the agenda is the construction of the proposed parallel runway for $92M at today's prices rather than who knows what 5-7 years down the road. Orr axed the extension of 18C-36C long ago after the EIS was approved but deferred it in lieu of building the newer runway. Now they think that they can push back the timeline on the proposed runway at today's prices....what a bonehead decision. Forget any flights to Asia until an extension of some sort is done as CLT's summer temps make for weight penalties on heavy takeoffs. Current European flights are not a problem, but there must be a reason for ATL's continued extensions of it's longest runway to over 12,000ft.
  3. MAH is a rich kid from Biscayne Bay who lives in Los Angeles, with his recently attained law degree. AA is his beloved air carrier and i'm sure that it irks him that CLT is one of the hubs.
