  1. how about gyms/fitness centers in downtown providence??? I have been travelling between NYC and CT the last two years, living in NYC for 4 years prior to that. I currently have a membership at the LA sportsclub in manhattan, an 8 story rather posh place, and a meathead gym in CT(only thing available where i work there). it's not too important to me the atmosphere, as I go there on a strictly fitness business only approach...headphones on and talk to almost noone, and get the hell out....I'm interested in a place with free weights, ample cardio and perhaps some machines...the classes are not too important to me..... what are the options in downtown like???
  2. OK, So I decided on the Peerless building over the Promenade. Perhaps I'll buy in a year or so, but just don't know the area too well...I move in July 1. I'm new to Providence, from Boston and lived in Manhattan for the last 6 years....Just want to know some must see/do in that area in terms of places to grab a drink, a bite and perhaps some good tunes....Oh, a good coffee shop is a must!!! THanks a ton......
  3. Ok, Well I looked at the peerless bilding at westminster lofts. I like the style, brick, beams and hardwoods. The location was great as well, as Westminster street seems like it has a fair amount going on. My one question is, how is the walk down union to the train station at night?? Say like 10pm...no later for a woman. My fiance will be working in Boston for a year, and I was wondering how safe it is arond the train station at night??? THanks.....
  4. anyone ever been into the westminster lofts?? How are they???
  5. So in 1-2 months I will be moving to providence. I've decided to rent for a while, and need to be close to the train station. I was thinking about the Promenade, but unless you go with oe of the high end units, the rest seem very cheap. Also, I have not yet looked at WEstminster lofts, but what are some of thevarious building like? and are they close enough to walk to thr train station?? THanks a ton. SH
  6. Thanks for all the great advice..I was going to look at imperial place as well as the Riverside condos in Pawtucket thuraday, but with the cold weather forecast I'm going to put it off till two weeks from now. The riverside condos do look fabulous, and have a great tax incentive. THe only downside would be the lack of city that both of us have come to appreciate about NYC...She could easily drive to S attleboro and take the train as well....I'll let everyone know what I think about the condos once I see them.
  7. Thanks for the responses. She is originally from Boston, me from Maine. For the last four years we have been living in NYC's Upper East Side. I'm looking for a condo downtown that would be convenient for her to take the train to Boston 1-2 days per week. I'd like a place with some charm and character, which led me to look at converted factories. Also, with the whole 195 construction, what will the effect be on the general area of the imperial place building? There is another condo around there someplace for sale....Other places I've considered looking at 1.) renting at Promenade, though the nice units are pricey, and the cheaper units are junk. 2.) Pearl Street Lofts 3.) A pricey place in the Cosmopolitan-probably more than I want to spend, though compared to NYC prices, not out of the question 4.)903 5.) Riverside in pawtucket-- and still looking at other places......... anyone got any thoughts on those places, or know of any other great places up for sale in the downtown area?? ALso, I'm heading back up Thursday, though with mother nature bringing in a frost, I may hold off...but a couple of great coffee shops in downtown area???
  8. Anyone have any thouhts about the Imperial Place Building?? My fiance may be commuting to Boston day or two per week, and I was wondering if it would be safe to walk from that neighborhood to the train station early in the am or after dark. Thanks.
