There is a Post and Courier article on why the two Main Street developments have been idle. I can't read the article so if anyone can post some Cliff notes I'd be grateful.

Did the garage receive preliminary approval? Timeline indicates they want to start pretty soon….

Sorry no pic, but some steel is starting to go up!

The March 5 DRB agenda includes a request for Full and Final Approval for the Spartanburg Ballpark Development located at 300 W. Henry Street.
The Agenda packet is now attached if anyone wants to peruse.

There is a new sign on Daniel Morgan down near the car dealerships saying "New Traffic Pattern Coming Soon". Rumor is a road diet for that area. it was discussed years ago, but I can't remember anything lately. (but I'm old and can barely remember yesterday...) Any details?

Looks like a crane is being assembled today. Hopefully going vertical soon.

I like the concept. I also hope that the city will take into consideration that cars need to be comfortable on the road also. By that, I mean while I love the dedicated bike lanes on Converse Street, some of the turns are very awkward for cars much less trucks….turning right from East Main onto Converse at FBS is tough without hitting the curb or going into the oncoming lane.

Agree, if nothing else it could have been Church Street Lofts or something that tied the church into the area. Didn’t know Gibbs opened the space. Explains a lot…..

Is the old Calvary Baptist at the corner of Church & Pearl simply being demolished due to its condition or is there a plan for the space?

I'm hoping for something more train related especially since we are the Hub City and the stadium is next to tracks. I'm not a fan of "Sparkle City"....

Site grading started yet?
Not really grading, but they are now working to clear brush/trees along the railroad tracks and power lines.

What's up with the steps that lead down to St John St? You can't park there and there isn't a cross walk (yet?).
I fail to understand why these were put in.
I don't understand either. The only thing I could think of is maybe that will be the only way to access the front entrance from the Main Street side while they are demoing the old courthouse....

Construction fencing going up. Might get to see some dirt being moved soon!!

Not a map but during the meeting Chris Story described it as being bounded by Pine Street to the east, Daniel Morgan Avenue to the north, Henry Street to the south, and the train tracks to the west.
Can’t visualize Pine Street being a boundary. That’s hwy. 9/176 way up at QT, Converse College, new Wendy’s etc…. Maybe he meant West Main….

I don’t like how no other hotels can get built downtown for three years. That’s silly.
Agree, but with the Fairfield Inn about to start construction and the hotel associated with this project, I would imagine that a developer might would wait about that long to check market conditions anyway…
-
Wow…. No I haven’t heard anything about being torn down. We saw some conceptual plans reworking the space but….
-
Hope you guys are correct. There is such a great opportunity to really have a beautiful complex without the two eyesores right on Church Street (Nautilus more than Blue Moon).
-
Yeah, I noticed that today. Looks like they just about have everything graded. Hate it about the power lines. They’re just ugly……
-
Do you think this means they’ve given up on acquiring Blue Moon & Nautilus?
-
Par Grading has some heavy equipment back on the job site today. Looks like they are either going to move or install a fire hydrant. Slowly but surely we should see some construction I hope....

Saw on Facebook that Downtown Deli & Donuts is closing Sept. 15. Bummer, I really liked that place for lunch. I wonder if it’s related to the 100 East Main development? Her last sentence was “hope to see you soon”

Spartanburg Water has been working on the site for a couple of days. Hope they are doing some prep work and not just regular maintenance....
