  1. So the rumor I mentioned a little while back about the Yancy's space in the Hudson becoming occupied seems more concrete now. I understand they are making at least tentative plans for an upscale sports bar. Oh how nice a smoke free sports bar downstairs would be!!
  2. That's what I've heard too. Shouldn't be difficult to achieve that!!
  3. Been meaning to post this for a while. Looks like we'll have a replacement for Gandolfo's soon. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o248/ce...ng/IMG_0138.jpg
  4. I don't understand it. When I came home last night, the lights were on, music was playing, and there were a decent number of folks in there. Maybe they're just selling out the booze before calling it quits??
  5. I heard over the weekend that Prime Only closed within the past week or so. Not sure if that's true, but if so, I'll certainly miss it.
  6. I stopped in Saturday myself and enjoyed a nice pollobella. Yum! They said there was a pretty steady stream of a few people at a time in there, so hopefully they will keep it up. The weather was certainly not ideal for their first day. On the way into work this morning, I noticed a sign with the Champa hours... 11-6 M-F. That's a big ole disappointment. Not that China Market had great hours, but at least you could get a decent (for the price) Pad Thai until 8. Also, I noticed people in 101 on Thursday and Friday... anyone been yet? I'm curious to try it or hear someone's opinion.
  7. For all you Sosta lovers out there, they are going to try opening on Saturdays starting this weekend and see if there's enough business to make it worthwhile. Very exciting to me since I only get to eat there when I work from home. They are also applying for a liquor license so they can try a few evenings a week (Friday & Saturday) serving a small selection of wine, beer, and antipasto. That won't be until at least May, but also a welcome addition if you ask me.
  8. I believe this is owned by the same people as Wild Ginger/Tokyo House/Zen Cafe/etc, and the sushi chef from Wild Ginger made the move with. You should be in good hands. I'm jealous..... that guy rocked!
  9. thekitch(es) and I had dinner at sono tonight and I think I'll end up liking the place a lot. For starters, the place looks pretty nice inside... love the floors, dig the big bamboo and bamboo accents here and there, nice and dark, and undecided on the larger than life woman on the wall. Being a bit of a glassware freak, I loved the glasses as well. Maybe that's just because what's in them though? Great appetizers, great cocktail and wine, and for my dinner at least, just average. I ordered a sashimi platter since I like to size up everyone's raw fish, and I wish I had been a bit more impressed. In the one block radius, I have to honestly say that just judging the quality of sashimi between the three places on the block, it comes in third. Fins has probably the best sashimi I've had in the state, and for as few things as I like at Wild Ginger, they have great sashimi. Sono was good too, just not quite $30 worth of wow for the smallest plate (which was quite large actually). The good news though is their rolls looked amazing, and the kitches said the COOKED fish was great. Can't wait to try all the rest of the menu since I feel content with sashimi in the immediate vicinity. Just thought I'd post and say it's definitely worth checking out since I haven't seen any comments on the site since it opened. For my money, I think it will make a great place for rolls, drinks, and the rest of the entrees. Being able to see a game on TV doesn't hurt either!
  10. Not a huge surprise here, but I noticed on my way to work this morning that Gandolfo's has closed. It's sad that I was a little excited about this even though it's so convenient. Looks like Sono is very close to opening though. That's all I've got.
  11. Never replied to myself before, but earlier I sent an email to Champa at Brier Creek. They are indeed opening a new place on Martin.
  12. I was just out walking around and noticed a sign in the old China Market window. Says Champa Cafe coming soon.... anyone know if this is related to the Champa in Brier Creek? Even more sushi??
  13. If I understood the location from Taz right, this is going to be in addition to the City Mart he already has open. He says it will be closer to a grocery than what the current place is. And they are going to sell beer!! Yay to being able to pick up a six pack and walk home! If I remember right, he said it would open hopefully sometime in Feb. Hope this helps.
  14. Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I don't recall it. For what it's worth, the new sushi place in the Hudson is supposedly coming from the folks at Mura. Rumor has it the cuisine is supposed to be a Japanese - French fusion. I've only really eaten at Mura once, and all I can remember is raw fish to start with and nearly as raw beautiful beef. Hope it's as good, though I agree with everyone that we do have enough sushi. Just walking from the new Waraji to Sono to Fins to Wild Ginger is quite a short journey. Speaking of, is anyone else as obsessed as I am with the sashimi at Fins? I've always been a huge Waraji fan (still am), but for just pure quality of fish, I believe Fins may have bumped it up a tad.
