I am currently in Houston Texas on business. I made it a point to ride the Houston light rail system called the "Metro". This light rail system is similar to the one being planned for Norfolk. The light rail line in Houston is also a starter leg and the train design and track length is close to the renderings for the Norfolk Project. The light rail train in Houston runs from center city Houston to the large medical complex about 8 miles from downtown Houston. The system was clean, fast, and efficient. I hope the "Tide" will be as successful as light rail in Houston seems to be.

I hope the church and the Navy works this little disagreement out. There is not too much construction activity going on in dtown NN and I think this will be a great addition to the dtown area.

Spoke with the Mall GM again today about any upcoming developments at the mall, here's a synopsis:
- The Barnes & Noble will 'officially' be built in the third anchor location, in the corner next to the parking garage and the mall. The store potentially will have entrances to the street and the parking garage, but not into the mall (they are not tearing down the walls past H&M to open an entrance). Look for construction to start after January, after the skating rink closes down. Currently everything is being negotiated in terms of entrances, etc. They're trying to be open in time for TCC's fall semester, but the full store will more than likely not open until November/December 2007. Possibly opening a satellite facility in a temporary location for the fall semester in the mall while waiting for full construction to complete.
- EQ3 (high end furniture store opening where Jeepers formerly occupied) is scheduled to open December 14th.
- Next year Ann Taylor Loft (i think i heard that right) is the only new store as of now scheduled to open in 2007.
I was hoping for a major department store to occupy all of that space because it is prime real estate in the middle of downtown NorVa. At least a nice book store will be there.

Here are two pics of the downtown Norfolk skyline as seen from Dick Price stadium on the campus of NSU.

My last photos were kind of small. Hopefully the pic below is larger.

Beautiful shot there. Do you have any recent ones with the new Trader Tower in it? I'd guess that you have a good location there for it.
Yes I do. You cannot see a full view of the Trader Tower but I have a small portion of it rising above the World Trade Center bldg.
