CAMERA . . . COASTER! Universal Orlando Resort Announces Brand-New Roller Coaster That Features Total Immersion Entertainment and Puts Guests In The Director
  3. Actually the Hilton property fronts I-Drive. OCCC North/South is inbetween the Hilton Property and Universal Blvd. You can see Universal Blvd from the Hilton but it does not front. Long Term North/South will be doubled in the direction of Single Creek, currently the parking lot. Once that happens, you will have to be in the tower in order to see Universal Blvd. Check out this link, I posted some time ago. http://paims.ocpafl.org/webmap/main.htm?cm...282401355700010 Zoom out and check the box by Feb 2006 for an aerial photo.
  4. It will really be great in about three to five year once all the landscape grows in. It is nice already, the did a great job. Those are actually Commerson's Dolphins. The are about 3-4ft long, much smaller than an Orca, but look very similar. http://www.whale-web.com/dolphins/commerson.html This is the area where two of the tube slides go through their habitat. You can see the slides on the left side of the photos.
  5. A couple of shots from last nights event http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome...=2AcuHDRk1aMnFg
  6. I am attending the CFHLA Event at Aquatica today at 4:00PM. I will try to get some pictures.
  7. Wow, that brings back memories. I too was there. Correct me if I am wrong, it was supposed to go off around 10:00PM but it did not happen until around 1:00AM - 1:30AM. It was worth the wait though.
  8. It is the Kid's Roller Coaster, Rumor is there will be three attractions in Wizarding World. The first two will be Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn. The are existing in that area but may be renamed. (Unicorn may even get a the Broomstick theme, maybe a new train on the existing track). The thrid attraction will be in the Hogwarts Castle Area. Ron's Car runaway car?.....maybe. No definite word yet.
  9. Just like Cirque. The entrance is between the Studios and Hard Rock. They actually used the sound stage that Nick used to be in. Not sure what pricing is but you do not have to enter either park.
  10. I went Sunday night and took my 7 yr old. He really enjoyed it. At one point he tapped me on the arm and said, "Thanks for bringing me Dad". What a great moment, and a great show. Loved the Twinkie bit, but the best part was the dancing ladies around the liquid tornado. Very cool, My son continues to attmept to dance like them. I agree, it is a great addition to the Universal complex.
  11. Both, Hogwarts Castle will be in the emply land between the Flying Unicorn and Jurassic Park. The area at the Entrance to the Dueling Dragons will will be converted to Hogmeads Village. The entrance to the existing Dueling Dragons Castle will be enhanced, (Maybe a new name to the coasters?) An entrance to the World of Wizarding just past Sindbad. This link is to a high res rendering. You are facing West with the Flying Unicorn in the upper middle and the existing Castle in the upper right. http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/files/HA...ptart_large.jpg click on the enarge button on the bottom right of the pic to explore the details. Photo of location in the park. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8620801@N02/525120980/ Of course, much may change before it is done.
  12. In typical Orlando Park Fashion.......Lot's of soap.

The WDW 10 original Mark IV Trains ran at WDW from 1971 to 1989 and were built by Martin Marietta here in Orlando. It may have been that Mark IV's were gone before you started to do your comparison. Two were refurbished and went to Vegas to run between Bally and MGM. They ran in Vegas until the line was extended and the new Bombardier Trains were put into service. The actually used the old beams from the original line. You can see the old vs. new from under the Bally/Paris Station, just as you go outside by the pool, before you go up escalator. http://www.bigfloridacountry.com/monorail.htm Here is a link to a very informational site about the WDW Monorail system and its history. About 3/4 down the page are pictures of the Mark IV's in service at WDW and then some pics of the two in Vegas. Some great pics because they actually have a picture of the Original Monorail Black, which was the only 5 car train that ran here. The rest including today's Mark VI's are all 6 car trains. I rode one of the Mark IV's in Vegas back in 1997 and it brought back a lot of memories when they were here.

I totally agree. The "Tram" in Vegas is actually a Monorail. In fact before it was expanded, there were two Mark IV Trains from Walt Disney World's previous fleet running between Bally and MGM. Disney sold them to Bally's once the upgraded their monorail fleet to the current Mark VI Trains. Monorail would be perfect in Metro Orlando, but Mica doesn't want it. They continue to say it cost more, but it takes up a smaller right of way, less impact during construction, and can be done in half the time because beams are built off site. Once the supports are up, (Small footprint), then bring in the beams and sit them on top. Construction in Vegas was not that long but the system was delayed due to some problems with the trains, dropping some wheels. There are even some monorails in Japan that were built and are run by private investors......because they make a profit. Granted their ridership is huge in that part of the world but, imagine never having to stop because of a commuter train during rush hour. Sorry, it has been a sore spot for many years and I have never had the outlet to vent.
  16. I wonder what I did. Only 10 post since my first and I'm already in trouble. Have been reading these boards for a couple of years now but don't share info to often for that reason. I thought I might get into trouble, but I didn't think it would be with a moderator. Bic, Thanks for confirming my termanology. BTW, the Molten Magma.
  17. I think I may have used the wrong term. They are big tall things with a large weight attached to drive down concrete piers, I think, No even close to a wrestler. Too old. Actually, I'm a DOS at a hotel near I-Drive and Universal. What does this mean under my name? Warn: (0%)
  18. The groundbreaking of The Waldorf Astoria at Bonnet Creek and the Hilton Bonnet Creek Hotel in the Walt Disney World Resort occurred this past Thursday, April 12. For your information, completion and opening is scheduled for September 2009.The 1,000-room Hilton and the 498-room Waldorf Astoria hotel will also offer a Rees Jones Championship designed golf course, expansive swimming pools that overlook the golf course, 24,000 square-foot spa and fitness center and a combined total of 125,000 square feet of meeting space. I was down there last Thursday and they were Setting up pile drivers. I also have a rendering if someone could let me know how to insert it.
  19. I have been part of the Hospitality Industry in Orlando for the past 17 years and in my opinion, The CVB and Bill have done an awesome job at putting Orlando on the map for big dog citywides. Just my opinion........
  20. Where did this come from? Each property borders the Orange County Convention Centers, West Building, (Phases 1-4). All three string properties string along I-Drive with OCCC in the midde. Phases 1&2 of OCCC West Bldg sit directly across I-Drive from the Peabody. There is not way to connect the two properties without removing OCCC West building. Are you sure you aren't talking about two other Tamar properties? Maybe the Plaza (Old Clarion) and the Quality Inn behind Ming Court? That rework has been considered for some time now but I haven't heard anything about it lately. Of note, if the casinos ever get a yes vote, the Rosen has proposed one for Orange County on the Quality Inn site. But that getting passed is quite a gamble in itself.
  21. An interesting partnership with Blue Rose. See below. On Friday, January 26, The Blue Rose will have costumes worn by lead characters in this season's productions of Masterworks: The Genius of George Balanchine, Spartacus, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, in The Blue Rose Preview Center, courtesy of the Orlando Ballet. The costumes will be on display for one day only from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. For more information regarding this event, call Jo Maldonado at 407-896-1145.
  22. Thx much. I have been following these forums for quite a some time, but have not been compelled to post until lately. Below is a link to the Hilton Property. I would not expect any visible construction for a while yet. http://paims.ocpafl.org/webmap/main.htm?cm...282401355700010 Zoom out and check the box by Feb 2006 for an aerial photo. Merry Christmas to all. Please be safe. Two ppl were killed yesterday in front of our property due to careless driving.
  23. It is the Hilton. The dirt is piled in order to settle before foundation work begins, if I am not mistaken. Before the Rosen Plaza (Clarion Plaza), the Rosen Center (Omni) and Shingle Creek were built, the dirt piled and allowed to settle for 6 months before they could start foundation pilings. It is due to the soil condition in this part of town.
