  1. Went out and took some pictures today. The first one was challenging, has anyone seen that huge dirt mound near Parramore off of I4, I had to climb it to get this shot, must be about 40-50ft tall. The last picture is the dynetech site which is moving along at a snails pace! http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m197/Bu...nOrlando006.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m197/Bu...nOrlando009.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m197/Bu...nOrlando004.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m197/Bu...nOrlando016.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m197/Bu...nOrlando018.jpg
  2. It would be nice if our new arena has some NBA firsts and broke some records such as amenities and never seen before in an arena type retail, maybe like a rollercoaster on top or something- nah im just kidding! LOL. I just hope that its architectual design is stunning and different than the typical cookie cutter arenas around the country. Im sure I speak for most of us when I say what a sigh of relief that this thing is going downtown. Out of all the projects in the Orlando forum this one has got me the most excited and im finally starting to realize how great Buddy Dyer is for this city. I pledge that we all chip in for a gold statue of buddy standing proud in front of the new arena!
  3. Iam prob. wrong but I think the staples center in LA is the most expensive arena yet. For $485 million the new arena here in Orlando could be the most expensive yet. And does anyone have any idea what kind of seating capacity this arena will have when set up for b-ball?
  4. We all can agree that this is awesome for the city, but what does everyone think of the design.
  5. Does anybody have pictures or renderings of the new arena and citrus bowl?
  6. Lets all enjoy this moment, but its gonna take a good Magic playoff team to do this new arena justice, lets hope they continue to improve and win games. I will be attending alot of them. GO MAGIC!!!!

    The VUE

I just drove west on 408 from UCF to Kirkman and the vue looks about 2 floors taller on the east side of town than it does from the top of my building in metrowest. I was a little bit worried about the new height listing but it looks great. It looked as if they were about 75% complete with that top penthouse level and from goldenrod to mills rd. it seemed to be about the same height as the courthouse and about 25 ft. taller than B.O.A. On the 408 coming out of the last toll booth before downtown the view of Star tower is really sweet giving a momentary illusion of density with suntrust looming over top of it.
  8. I would rather have it downtown, its better for the downtown businesses, Iam a magic fan and go to at least 7 or 8 games a year and always hit up a bar or club downtown afterwards. Why should I be forced to go to City walk and pay $7.50 for a beer or drive 10 miles into town when im already half drunk. And isnt the commuter rail not going to be bypassing I drive? I think the Marlins are a good idea, and I think this town is ready for another pro team. Hey I just remembered, correct me if iam wrong but isnt San Antonio's Alamo dome set up for basketball but can also handle big field sports like football and baseball, if this is true why not do that here, build a huge $500 million stadium that can be converted to different sports, that would surely make a huge visual impact downtown and be very innovative and smart!

    55 West

Yeah that makes alot of sense, on the flipside i think BOA looks short for its 409ft listing i guess its because of those huge blocky windows, and maybe because of its tiered shape and wide base.

    55 West

No not the view from I4, the view period. This building is in the wrong place, i think it looks ok its just not the best location for this building, i would never buy in 55 west my money would be in the vue, simply because of the view,(from the building). My excitment about this surge in development has nothing to do with visual appeal, im excited about this city growing up and offering its residents more. Ill take 55 west in that location over nothing in that location anyday, but i know most can agree that that building is better suited in a different location.

    55 West

Listen i dont think things are built just to look pretty, 55 west is not a terribly ugly design i really just think it would be better suited closer to eola, doesnt that make sense? its a highrise condo project, i would much rather look out my balcony to a lake or a more distant view of downtown not a congested interstate or another higrise thats 50ft away. thank you camstrang for agreeing, i see all your points tho.

    55 West

Does anyone else here think that this building is going to look out of place? I think it would fit right at home on the north shore of Eola, not on top of I4 blocking the view like a fat chick standing up in a movie theater

    Ocala

Iam from Orlando and currently live in Orlando, but my father lives in Ocala, and i can tell you that development from Wildwood through Gainesville is going bananas. Personally Ocala is not for me but ive heard property values are still going strong, and construction is full steam ahead in that region. Alot of "snowbirds" are buying houses/property also. I think the Villages are one of the fastest growing towns in the country but mostly older retired people are the ones moving there.

The courthouse does look tall for its listed height to me anyways. I was driving back in town on I4 yesterday from deland and from the wesh news tower and on down the skyline looks great, that was my first trip westbound on I4 since the vue has been up and it looks great from that angle especially cuz thats its slender side makes it look deceivingly taller. There is a slight gap between the courthouse and the vue that when dynetech goes up will fill it in nicely giving that angles view considerable density.

No im not purchasing in the vue, I live in MetroWest/Varanda Park (which is not the safest place to be anymore) I just love this project and looking forward to it being topped off. Does anyone know the ground elevation difference between the O.C. courthouse and the vue?
