  1. I think for the midprice shopper, in a year it'll be fantastic. A little slow opening up, but it will fill up. The location is just too good to not be a good center for bargain hunters and people in the midrange.
  2. My buddy at Penney's told me they're soft opening on the 25th or 26th and officially opening Oct 4 at Shackleford. The univ. store will close 4 days earlier.
  3. What is Zaxby's? Also, the Promenade has concrete being poured today.
  4. Does anyone know what's going in just south of Walmart on Bowman at the corner of Kanis??? That whole lot, prob 3 acres, is being cleared really really fast.
  5. A lady that works there told me that Haverty's would be closing across from PF Changs.
  6. It will basically be Park Plaza out west, Ann taylor loft, gap, DSW, american eagle, etc. I wonder who's new at Shackleford Crossing, too.
  7. I was at Penney's this week. No returns on most of their stuff and the checker told me they'd already started their final clearance. He said they'll close in September and reopen at Shackleford in first week of Oct.
  8. Any new news on who's coming here? They are destroying the street now.
  9. everyone read the article in the Dem-gazette about University mall in today's issue.
  10. From what I hear. I'm not sure if the entire Dunlaps company is going out, but I was told for sure that the Cohn's portion is going out. A major vendor of Cohn's told me last weekend. The University location is on a month-to-month lease and is liquidating as we speak.
  11. If you're referring to Dunlaps, no. They're liquidating and going out of business. Several of their stores have already closed and I heard that Cohn's is closing at University, as well as, every store in AR.
  12. I meant Dunlaps, they were the same company so I have just always said Cohn's. I don't think it will hurt the center at all to lose them.
  13. Have a friend that told me Cohn's is liquidating and won't be going to this center. Wonder who'll replace them?
  14. Look at the site plan for this thing. Do you guys think there'll be sufficient parking directly in front of the buildings? I'm not familiar much with this type of shopping center. Will people park and walk around? Or will they want parking directly in front of the shop? I'm not sure how the new mall in Rogers, for example, is laid out.
  15. Anyone have any updates on stores opening here in October?
  16. I think it'll be worth it though. The street will be level and will make it much nicer and more hospitable in the long run.
  17. Article in the paper says they're closing Shackleford rd. for 6 months for improvements for the center to open in October.
  18. Looks like some new buildings next to Penney's are beginning to go up. I wonder when Cracker Barrel will begin.
  19. I heard that the major building will be all underway by early May and completed by Octoberish. Penney's is preparing to leave University in the same week it opens at Shackleford. Don't know about Cohn's, though. I think a Goody's is going in there too.
  20. I'm not too disappointed. Not every shopping center can go after the Midtowne or Parisian customers. This center will be much busier than either of those because it caters more to LR income customers. The line-up is not dirt cheap, just budget. I hear there may be another couple of shoe stores, restraunts, a hotel, a Gamestop, and a Booksamillion. We'll see.
  21. I agree. There are plenty of houses out there, but there are few good restraunts, etc. to draw people that far out. Even though there's many residences, it's not enough to pull and support two large centers, ala Promenade and Parisian's. O, as a side note, Parisian's is moving out a lot of there higher end lines of clothing and replacing them with lower end ones this quarter. I heard from an insider. They're not selling the expensive stuff hardly at all.
  22. Looking at building permits on the LR site, Cracker Barrel, Babies R Us and a couple of others, including Penney's, have committed to the building at the site soon. I know a girl who works at the Penney's at University. She says they're already making some moving plans.
  23. I agree totally. I don't understand how they can hope to fill this center up completely with high-quality tenants when the center across the street isn't even full.
  24. Same demographic, just higher income I believe. Shackleford will be middle to lower income, Promenade will be middle to upper middle.
  25. It looks like building foundations are about to start out on S Crossing. Driving by, its cleared completely with trailers there that look like they might start putting up some concrete soon. I think it's Penney's end they're starting on...
