Yeah not letting freshmen park is for the most part impossible considering all the roads surrounding campus and all the areas that still don't have sidewalks. Wouldn't be fair to force them to just get food and other stuff oncampus (which is price jacked)
-
-- The new rec fields are being constructed off of John Kirk Rd. It's construction is hard to miss. Also along John Kirk is the placement of sidewalks and some curb and gutter.
So that's what that giant cleared area next to UT North is for. Was wondering if that was just going to be another dumb apartment complex glad it isn't. Nice to see them finally adding the sidewalks around here too.

The N E S W codes are just for uptown which of course doesn't really make that much sense to have, imo. Should've just divided it into the wards.

I knew that even if they didn't get past this first round that what they did was a good accomplishment anyway.

Finally! Eastland has had one slow agonizing death. GOOD RIDDANCE!
Yeah it really is a shame what happened to it, never been to it myself (passed by it once and that was scary enough), it's heyday was long before my time. It's a good study about what poor planning etc does to an area.

Well now it's going to die http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/04/18/1384628/end-is-near-for-eastland-mall.html

Could say it's poetic justice

I can't help but feel a sense of irony that it was us beating the hornets that got us a spot in the playoffs.
-
Now that MJ owns the team, what a great time for me to pull out my Space Jam basketball
-
Never heard of that store before
-
What about replacing Eastland Mall with a soccer stadium? The location is very accessible to Charlatinos among others. And of course, plenty of parking.
They converted the ice rink there to a soccer thing so that's really not out of the question...
It's too bad though Charlotte isn't on the 2018/2022 world cup bid anymore
-
It's now going to open on Feb 4th
-
Yeah wouldn't be surprised if they delay it a day or so. Will be nice though when it actually does.
-
Went by the new Best Buy location last night and it is definitely not open and I wouldn't expect it to be open until February sometime. There is also an permit under review to add a truck dock, not sure if that's something that's needed before they can open or not.
I'm assuming that the mini Apple store that is inside the University location will be moving to this new location. That's a great asset to have in north Charlotte since the only Apple store is at Southpark.
Does that apple store inside UNCC's student union count? Though that's mostly for students/faculty not really general public.. also according to the website it's Jan 30th when it will be opening.

This seems like an appropriate enough thread.
Lowe's Motor Speedway has now officially changed its name to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Charlotte is going to be NASCAR heaven come May.
Finally it's true name comes back

In online version of the O, there would be 5 user comments after a game. 3 of which would still be complaining about the arena being built.
Yeah people for some really strange reason have yet to get over this and it's downright pathetic at this point.

After reading the article this morning, I wonder if a Food Lion Bottom Dollar store might not work. The two Charlotte area stores are north of the city and I think it would do well being close to the University with the students in the area/
We already have Bloom though, which imo is better
-
Yeah it wasn't that bad looking in and out
-
While its been reported that the nearby stores are not affected, check out this link to the University Store's web site. Seems to paint a different picture. Opening date doesn't look too realistic though.
Hmm that's too bad but not a huge deal if it does happen to move I'll just shop over in that area more often then. Just gotta wonder what they could put over in the vacant spots
-
Now that is funny, I'm not surprised.
-
That's kind of funny in that these same people are soon coming on campus here. http://aux.uncc.edu/news/index.php/2009/11/25/kitchen-kred-culinary-competition-results/comments/#comments

If BB does go into the spot I wouldn't want them to get rid of the University spot though, since it's closer.

hmm what a waste of money since they are about to build a science building there in the next couple of years. I guess it's better getting some use than none in the meantime. That lot will make my roommate happy at least.
Yeah they put the news on the new blog for auxiliary services http://aux.uncc.edu/news/
Two New Parking Lots ASAP, More to ComeLot 19, at the corner of Cameron and Craver Roads, is under a first phase of construction to serve the Union/COE/CHHS area. Grading to prepare for a temporary gravel lot is going on now, so weather permitting, expect about 100 new spaces to be available to commuters, faculty and staff in just a couple weeks.
Lot 18, between Union Deck and Cameron Blvd., will also provide 100 spaces. Lot 18 will be an asphalt surface lot and should be ready around mid-way through next semester.
After Lot 18 is complete, the spaces in Lot 19 will close down temporarily and change from a 100-space gravel lot to an approximately 250-space asphalt surface parking area. What that means to you is this: 100 new spaces will be provided near the Union within the next few weeks and as soon as construction reality will allow, that number will expand to 350 spaces.
It does seem like kind of a waste of money, but I think by the time they start construction of what will go there won't they have new parking decks ready ? Oh well at least they are trying heh, they've been doing some other little things to try to fix the problem.
-
Where the old walking track was between the union deck and woodward, that they used to house construction trailers when they were building the union deck, they seem to be making what looks like another surface parking lot to try to relieve some of the parking issues.
