  1. ^ I'm not sure but on the news, they said it will fill double the amount of people in? Or I could be wrong..That's what I remember hearing though but its hard to imagine.
  2. the design is not that bad..as long as it gives a nice presence to the skyline, thats good. It kind of reminds me of the TDWH with side burns (the glass sides added on).
  3. source orlando sentinel.. so the front of the arena as portrayed will be Church Street.?
  4. Grant Hill should fund 70 million $ he took from the team.
  5. great news. how are they going to fit it from w church hughey to division and south. shall be interesting to see the actual plans. downtown isn't a baby anymore
  6. As long as football/basketball/baseball season aren't overlapping.
  7. that is besides the point=) Detroit downtown is mad ghetto. Washington Wizards used to be called the Bullets..but that changed..
  8. I have a gut feeling it'll end up in downtown somewhere because they are rushing to get the old buildings leveled. Maybe its just a real estate tactic so they can get the land a bit cheaper? hehe
  9. I see what your getting at but I believe they already built and are still building I4 entrances/exits right on division (closest exit to get ot church/division if that is the location where the arena is built and seems to be the most popular amongst most people here:). Plus, I see church street much like ybor streets in tampa...where there would be businesses etc. and less housing..
  10. yeah but the citrus bowl is in the booneys.. itd be better if they built it right by the edge of the 'expanding' downtown. plus it would be a headache if there was 2 events at the same time at the citrusbowl/arena as it sometimes DOES happen... they'd have to accomodate for parking for over 30-35k people and not to mention traffic rolling in. just be too chatoic and confusing for people. nice idea though.
  11. thanks for the update..i thikn we just have to wait until oct 3 and find out where its going from there.
  12. Either way, downtown is growing ^ and <> . If the arena comes to downtown it will grow even faster and better. When you see other city's arenas like atlanta, chicago, they are in DOWNTOWN...not uptown.
  13. how are you SO sure? do you have any insider info or somethng? I dont see how someone can be 100% confident saying that. p.s. your sig is halarious..why do you love parramore so much anyways?
  14. I think its because they know they'll make $ either way so they can care less where it is as long as the new arena is made. Of course this is just pure speculation but who really knows? Only they do. If its on Idrive, they'll get international fans to come more to games (tourists etc.), if its in downtown, it'll be easier for locals to visit games as it is a CENTRAL location for orlando residents. another benefit for it being in Idrive is the fact that tampa/lakeland area fans can also come to games as the drive would be 50min-1 hour which isn't too bad for crazy fans:) I prefer it to be in downtown of course as it will boost the downtown redev projects.
  15. Haha..Kuhn is a baller. I don't know how he does it but he seems to get things done.
  16. that is EXACTLY how I feel. Downtown feels like Orlando. I drive feels like INTERNATIONAL
  17. I felt the vibe that the commishes wanted it to go on IDRIVE. I hope it goes to downtown because I feel more of a sense of community in downtown compared to Idrive area.. Idrive feels too touristy.
  18. Carver Theater is another historic building which was destroyed for the person who said there is no historic interest in the area.
  19. whats this about a commuter rail. I thought that idea vanished a few years ago. Is it back up on the table?
