very cool indeed..is it just me or does this arena seem half tghe size of the current one? I mean i can walk from one end to the other in less than a minute...the current arena complex seemed huge....

which leaves other areas to have retail around the area. may not be a bad thing.

The Orlando Magic will distribute about $50,000 to 11 businesses on West Church Street to help the firms pay for rent through June 2010. The Magic's chief operating officer said that they want to help set the tenants up for success so that at the end of the two years, they are ready to take advantage of the million people each year that will be coming across their front door from the events center. The Magic and the city of Orlando also plan to provide tenants with business plans to capitalize on the increase in foot traffic once the 750,000-square-foot arena opens in 2010.

i don't see whats so special about sweets by holly..at least the overpriced cupcakes. It wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be...cool theme going inside...nicely decorated food items..but taste wise..its just not 'amazing'.
What about their other items? anyone know if its worth giong back to try the yoguts etc.

Yeah, they have one on Winter Park as well. I just browsed their website and they did a really nice job with everything.

I saw some rederings of their proposed development where the arena is going. I am not sure if they ever took it for approval but the lady that was telling me about it said they canceled it because the market was not there.
what happened to the proposed "patch up" they were planning on doing to the street fronts on church street?

City Tops List of Property Owners Near New Arena Location
Does anyone subscribe to the Orlando Business Journal that can access the full version?
I am not surprised by the City being #1 in that area. I wonder what they will do with all that property?
Who are the other 3 on the top 4 list the article mentions? Are they European Investors? I wouldn't doubt it, considering how strong the Euro and British Pound are these days. They love Florida and I am sure they will be buying up properties at a bargain....I suspect that is good for the Florida Economy and the tax base.

Just looking at the aerial shots and Bird's Eye View shots (by the way, the BEV shots are awesome on http://maps.live.com) and Church St. looks fantastic by the arena. Appears to be some great mixed-use development on the northside of Church. So we know the parking garages will be south of South St.
What about the west side of Division? Appears to be apartments there, but what kind of condition are they in? Are they candidates for demolition?
Those apartments on division and church need to be torn down or heavily remodeled. They are so old and ugly.

From what it looks like on the 'masterplan' pic above, it could be a parking garage.
Anyone know whats happening to the "north" of city vue and to the 'west" of it according to this picture? I know they paid big $$$ for the land there. If they used the funny structure to reprent a parking garage, it looks like there may be 3 more?

whats going on that piece of land adjacent to the footprint? It looks to be cleared out for something, and it has some machinery stored on it, but it doesn't look to be marked off for anything...

I like that building... well, the bottom portion of it. They could take that part and incorporate it into a rounded wall at street level or turn it into a fountain base or a round stage. They're architects and they say they don't have a vision yet. Huh? They're designers. How do they not have vision? Sounds like they need to smoke a blunt and get some vision, man.

At first glance the sloping parking deck floors beneath the level roof make the roof appear to be sloping the opposite direction.
Pretty cheap looking. I can imagine this place turning into a ghetto over the next 10 - 15 years.

I pass by it everyday..I could take some shots on my cam if you guys want..I just dont like bringing my camera to downtown where some thief might break into my stuff.
