  1. I flew back to South Florida yesterday on Allegiant........95% full. I hope this route makes it once the teaser fares are dropped. I spoke with several people concerning the first flight on Thursday (FLL to GSP) and it was 100%. Plus, Sunday's (FLL to GSP) was 100%.
  2. At the surface I would agree, but I posted this note several months ago about my first Allegiant flight from Orlando to GSP. "Generally Allegiant is exactly what you requested......transportation. Older jets, clean shells, new leather seats inside. They left on time and arrived early on both legs. The flight up Thursday morning was 90% full and the flight back yesterday was full. It was funny listening to the folks talk before the flights because I bet half of the people were using the flight as a gateway to Greenville/Asheville/Boone/etc for the weekend instead of 100% theme park travel. The return flight had lots of the same faces on it returning from their weekend to the Carolinas." There are lots of folks in South Florida with second homes in the Carolinas. Most people can't use them as much as they would like because of travel/dollars. If this happens, this would remove these barriers. The FLL airport is centrally located, 30 minutes from Miami, 30 minutes from Palm beach County.
  3. I believe that was in Augusta, the pilot landed at Daniel Field and the passengers had to wait for a truck/stairs to be driven over from Bush Field. They had to off load the jet so it get could leave Daniel Field. The tower closed on clear nights and the last few jets landed on their own. Daniel Field supposedly lines up nicely with Bush Field on certain approaches.
  4. Based on the article.......... Allegiant partners with local hotels/resorts to bring folks to the city for vacation. So, I see it as more a Fort Lauderdale hub reaching into the South/Midwest. I live in South Florida and it is a pain to get to GSP without costing you a mortgage payment per person. All the non-stops so to speak in this area go to Northeast. It will be refreshing to get a few non-stops into the South other than ATL/CLT.
  5. There was an interesting article this morning in the Ft Lauderdale paper....... Allegiant Airlines to begin service to Ft Lauderdale. They will be flying to a dozen cities in the Mid-South and Midwest. No cities were stated, but the airline did say that they are currently flying to all the cities. The cities are to be announced August 9.
  6. We own a unit in the Virginia........ The Virginia has 17 units total, each floor has five different floor plans. The five different floor plans are 1/1, 1/1, 2/1, 2/2, 2/2. The same pattern is repeated on the other two floors. there are two garden 1/1's on the back side of the building. I would estimate the price range for 1/1 (155K) to the 2/2 (195K). It all depends of the usual items, condition, updates, etc...... It does have the charm a period style place because it was built in 1920. The location is great too. Sometimes we drive to town and walk home in the evening because of wine issues...... In my opinion the parking is not a problem. sometimes you are right outside the door and other times your are three or five car lengths up the street. One of my favorite things, is the ease of getting to Cleveland Park for running which takes me all the to Falls Park. My two cents.........
  7. I had opportunity to use the serves of Allegiant Air this past weekend........first a little history. I am a Clemson Alumi and live in South Florida. We started staying in downtown for football weekends and we both really enjoyed the downtown happening each time we stayed. A couple years ago we bought a place downtown. We generally hike and play in the day only to return back to downtown for dinner/fun. Flying from West Palm Beach to GSP with 30 minutes drive time to PBI.......almost $1000 for 2 Flying from West Palm Beach to CLT with 30 minutes drive time to PBI and 2 hours to Greenville.......almost $600 for 2 Flying from Orlando to GSP with 3 hours drive time to ORL and 15 minutes to Greenville.......less than $200 for 2 Generally Allegiant is exactly what you requested......transportation. The return flight had lots of the same faces on it returning from their weekend to the Carolinas. Bottom line.........yes I would do it again, not crazy about the 3 hour drive to the airport.
  8. This is one I did several years ago.......... There had been a warehouse fire upstream the night before and fire debris had washed into the Reedy. The river was black with a brunt odor. My Webpage
