After reading the note from the trial, I am concerned.   I knew that the Baton Rouge interests wouldn’t care about what an unincorporated outside of its borders actually does if they weren’t exploiting that area for tax revenue.   The opponents of St George either were not forthcoming on the real degree that Baton Rouge was exploiting that colony for tax revenue or they didn’t know.   I knew they were pulling out all the stops because they didn’t want the gravy train to stop…but it’s worse than I thought.

St George is now owned $125 million in their share of tax revenue collected since the 2019 vote, and the irresponsible people in the mayor’s office didn’t put a dime of it into escrow while this case was in the courts.

EBR may continue to grow thanks to St George - if they are successful at building a good government and a strong school district.

So what does that mean? BR owes St George that money?

Here's some reporting from out in the UK, lol

  2. ^Well, lol!

I skimmed through the master plan and saw they won't be having elephants anymore. Honestly that's probably a good idea as I read elephants go half crazy being locked up in captivity but I also think it's kind of lame as elephants are zoo headliners of sorts.

Here is a satellite image from about 2 weeks ago.    You can see that they are completely stalled on the section where the Florida Gas Pipeline is still just sitting there just east of highway 19.    Progress isn't happening.

Smh, maybe we should call the Preisdent since he knows how to handle pipelines.

I'm impressed with the Zoo progress.

It's far from done though.   It's open, but you aren't seeing all of the new stuff yet.

Nope, the master plan said something like 2046 but we know atleast in state government time that could mean 2060.

One critique I do have is that in the concept art the top portion of the entrance building was all glass like the middle portion. I think the current design is fine but maybe they should add some banners or murals to break up the grey.

Pretend that you went back in time 5 years.  Now imagine your reaction if someone told you that by 2024,  LSU women's basketball would have a nationally recognized coach, a national championship, sell out every home game, break attendance records for EVERY one of their SEC away games, and be a catalyst for a brand new arena that's likely to be the largest in the conference........

Ikr, that was an unlikely but great pivot by LSU.

  6. I snapped a few picks of the new zoo entrance and it looks really good. They're also working on a beautiful new playground, I kind of wanted to go play on it myself lol!

Found this Map of BR's 2 Fault Line's .......not sure of the exact accuracy ; Was not aware of the Northern one

    But the Southern one is well known and  highly visible on the College Drive "Hill" a couple blocks North of  I-10;

also cut  across the old  Woodlawn middle school in SE BR Tiger Bend Rd/ Jones Creek Rd ;  cracks in the foundation (in the gym) began to compromising  the structure ; then prompting them to move the School to a new location next door; but they prolly should have moved it to a completely different area instead; because now the school is beginning to have cracks in the pluming/sewage system

There is a BREC Park walking trail at the old school location

That's interesting. You usually only think of faults being in California but but I guess they're everywhere.

Where is the College Drive one? I'm sure I've seen it and it didn't register as a fault.

Have seen em at my cousin's large pond near Port Vincent  and Ward Creek at Highland Road

    Thanks!

I'll have to take a look there one day. It's probably not the season for em yet but I went to Manchac park near south Jefferson Hwy but didn't see any.

  10. Decided to go on an adventure to Barataria to see if I could spot some alligators and actually did find a few.

Had anyone ever been on the Alligator Bayou tour that operated near Manchac Bayou in Ascension/Iberville? By the time I learned about it way back it had already closed.

The Constantin project is why they are tearing down the old seafood restaurant across from Mall of LA.    My only complaint about the plan is that it's taking so darn long to execute.   The restaurant has been closed for some time - it's ready to be demolished and this street to be built.    I do wish there was a connection to Essen Park Ln somehow across the creek.   That's expensive though.   Maybe it will happen eventually.

  12. Aldi plans to build store near Cortana Amazon site | Business | theadvocate.com

Aldi has plans to build its third grocery store in Baton Rouge. See where.

Aldi has applied for a permit to build a grocery store near the Cortana Amazon fulfillment center, which would be the third Baton Rouge location for the fast-growing chain.

The company applied for a permit to open a store at 9720 Cortana Place, near the intersection of Airline Highway and Florida Boulevard. It’s on the ring road that used to surround Cortana Mall, but now surrounds the massive Amazon fulfillment center, which is set to open later this year.

Heather Moore, a division vice president for Aldi USA, said in an email the Cortana location is expected to open later this year.
