  1. The old train station would make a really cool restaurant, in my opinion.
  2. What's the deal with the Patrick Henry Hotel? Are the owners still going through with plans to convert the building into an assisted living facility?
  3. Here's my random post to add to the total!
  4. Yeah, I just heard a guy say that they'd signed a 10-year lease somewhere down there, not sure if he knew what he was talking about though.
  5. Heard a rumor yesterday that a Starbucks is going to open up in Grandin Village. Any truth to that?
  6. I'm in Charlotte for the weekend, hope all is well back home in VA!
  7. I went on the tour and there were a lot of people on it. The houses on Day Ave are amazing!
  8. I don't think any of us will ever live to see the day a Hard Rock Cafe is in Roanoke. However, I completely agree that I think a better use can be found for the old Heronimous building. The Library is a great idea and the city's libraries badly need an overhaul. Mixed use, restaurants/offices/apartments would be really cool too, anything that brings life to areas of downtown. I don't see how this law firm can take up the entire building, are they really that big? Perhaps they are only looking at taking over part of the building, which could leave other parts open for retail, restaurants or apartments?
  9. Noketown had some potential and the site still does, especially w/ apartments/condos going in the building above it. I loved the layout of the place, but problem #1 was w/ the name. I personally wasn't a big fan of the name "Noketown".
  10. Agreed, I think Roanoke has a very nice skyline, especially for a city its size, but there are a few gaps where I could see a new building or two fitting in nicely. I also hope they do start on the market plan soon. Some great ideas in there.
  11. Hmm, very interesting. I actually worked at WSLS until this past November. I remember the reports on the century station garage, along with the other plans for the market area, but don't remember anything about the new building. That's pretty cool if it does happen, I've thought that Roanoke could use a few more "taller" buildings in the skyline.
  12. I saw on someone's blog, I think weill's, something about a new Norfolk Southern office high-rise in Roanoke? Is that true or just rumor?
