If the base has been recently poured, the crane will not assembled until the concrete reaches the desired strength. This looks likes a full size tower crane since there is a ladder in the center of the base section.

In that one picture, there are two Delta 757-200's.

This could be a great indication to MLB that Richmond can support a AAA team.

Luffing cranes are not necessarily used just for tall towers. I have seen 7-story cast in place and stick frame apartments use a luffing crane and standard tower cranes used for 500+ foot skyscrapers. Lack of space, tight swing radius between multiple cranes are some of the reasons why luffing cranes are used.

Stupid paywall.

I see embeds on the shaft which makes me think this will be a structural steel frame. However at least the first two levels is cast in place concrete. I don't see any post tension cables so perhaps this will be structural steel above? We shall see.

Building casinos in working class areas is a disaster. Casinos earn at the expense of those who are poor and not financially literate. It's hilarious how many people complain about "corporations rob and steal from people" yet these same people say yes to casinos since they "bring jobs and tax dollars." A casino brings minimal of both of these to an area. Whatever income it brings to an area, there's not much to show. For example, the areas around MGM in PG County, MD and Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore have not been any better since the opening of these establishments in their respective areas.

@Shakman What makes these look 'suburban' to you? The initial renderings showed some trees and surrounding lawnscape but I think that is just a generic background so as not to confuse the product with potentially other structures. The StyleCraft project near Hardywood ended up looking pretty good because it smashes all these new units around other existing uses - this will be similar in context and give it an urban feel I'd think.
As to Cobb lumber site - the 'Duplex Station' project... I hope this is still set to break ground this year - I think demolition is imminent for the 'Oliver' project across the st (the old Vatex site) so it would be amazing to have dirt turning on both sides of Hermitage.
It's the facade and lack of ground floor retail. I see these types developments all over DMV suburbs.

Now I can't find this article. What I do know is United has been reducing service on a number of routes due to issues with Boeing deliveries.

About a month ago, I read on the blog aeroroutes.com that UA DEN service will be reduced to 1x Daily mainline service. When I get time, I'll find and post it here.

Great to see more density coming to the Museum District.
Hmmm. Maybe those breeze blocks should be removed and replaced with something more appealing? Perhaps demo the entire structure and build new? Just my opinion.

Hey that's me! I'm the nervous one who talked fast and stuttered on about my support of it.
Nice! A face to match. You did a great job!

I don't think this is the place for this type of suburban style development. Do I want ownership? Yes but in a higher density project than this. My concern these owners could become NIMBY's in an area which can support more density.

Hopefully the final product does not look that bland.

Yeah keep those types of designs in the burbs.

Given the popularity of Ted Lasso, the Kickers should rebrand as the Greyhounds (sorry if this has been suggested previously). The marketing nearly writes itself and maybe Virginia native Jason Sudeikis could make an appearance.
A name synonymous to Richmond would have been better. Something that markets "this is what Richmond is known for".

I agree. What a waste of time for the community and fellow Richmonders. The developer of Avery Hall should buy this land, raised the structure and build a dog park so dogs can crap on the property.

When I plane spot around RIC, I will sometimes go to WAWA's and the Microtel parking lot.

In my opinion, Southwest service to BWI would mean less chance of Southwest adding destination from RIC. Once RIC passengers arrive at BWI, they will connect to flights to many other destinations.

Yes! About a month after I was at RIC thinking the same. They definitely needs better food options however where is there space for new vendors? Maybe replace what's there with a food court? If so, it will have to be post security to be effective. Hmmm. Maybe this food court could be a connector between both concourses?

I also remember going to People's Drug for sodas and fries.

Pro tip: Don't go to that Subway.
Edited to add: I'm struggling to understand why a developer would want to build 15 stories on the CVS site considering, as noted, it could do so by right up to 12 stories.
I have not been to any Subway's in a very long time.

Expect NIMBY's to cry about the height.

Yuck. Look at all of that wasted space called parking lots.
