CATS must have upgraded to maglev 300/kph trains while we weren't looking!

Aren't there supposed to be financial repercussions for failure to deliver? Wasn't this a joint project of sorts with UNCC? (partial student parking in the deck iirc?)

The CTC needs to be dis-aggregated to smaller cluster nodes around Mecklenburg and run higher frequencies between those nodes. The fact that that (the city? cats?) leadership dreamt up this absolutely ridiculous "solution" of burying the CTC in place demonstrates how utterly out of touch they are with the inefficiencies and outright failings of the transit model as it exists today. Literally nothing will change, just now the buses are underground? I mean honestly it blows my mind that this is even being seriously considered as some sort of solution? What does it solve? At what cost?

This RR yard will never (in our lifetimes) be moved. Forget about capping 277 and get the ball rolling on capping the rail yard instead.
Restored connectivity, parks, office, residential.

While I am 100% on board for full removal as much as possible, how much money was just spent re-doing the 277-77-16 interchange?
Sunk cost fallacy, etc...

Seriously what is with that counting.... 8 cranes in Chicago? 14 in NYC? were they just sampling a couple blocks worth? lol

I thought CATS wanted to move away from hub and spoke... rebuilding the CTC in place will just cement this model for years to come...

Austin is not even close anymore. Whereas Charlotte cannot break 600' on its recent builds (well BOAT did manage to (632'), and hopefully Riverside will as well. Duke annoyingly came up a little short) Austin has 7 projects under construction (+2 more approved) that are all well over 600'+ in height (plus 2 existing) for a total of 11. Charlotte has 4 total. lol.
In Austin that includes a 875' office/residential (66 floors) that beats our tallest by a couple feet, plus a super-tall 1022' (87 floors) hotel/office/residential.
I'm gonna go ahead and wager it will be a long time still before anything beats BOACC let alone cracks 1000' in Charlotte.
If you think Charlotte is on fire with its recent buildings (and it is, truly) Austin is just bonkers.

10. Lastly the tallest state capitol in the USA 34 story 460 feet tall Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge. It is a beautiful 1934 high rise inside and out. a must see. Here is a photo also from the observation deck open to all. Plus the Capitol has some beautiful grounds and parks around it. Very controversial when built for $5 Million built by Gov Huey Long who ended up getting shot in the Capitol and is buried on the grounds. Long story look it up.
What a masterpiece of Art Deco design! Asbolutely incredible I can't wait to see it in person. I had no idea about this building.
Huey Long wow what a character... just recently learned about him as well. Quite an interesting fellow / life lived.

man every once in a while I'm tempted to start a custom map to track empty retail storefronts in uptown, the sheer # is staggering.
I figure there's gotta be numbers that track this... is that part of their yearly report?

I'm all for this, especially since it is somewhat local to me these days. With that said, I got a great chuckle out of this.

I'll 2nd what KJ is saying; the office tower may come out shorter than expected.
More like they drew a Chicago building and they have a Charlotte budget.
