  1. I'm thinking Publix also. While I think a Whole Foods might do well in Macon, I'm not sure Whole Foods would consider Macon their type of market. There's also a Fresh Market just a couple of miles from this location. (Of course, there's another Publix relatively close by too, so...)
  2. Developers to ask P&Z to rezone land on Zebulon Road east of Northway Church to build retail shopping center (possible grocery store, national retailers, etc.), approx. 200k - 250k square feet. Main anchor would be approx 50,000 square feet, with about a dozen other spots for smaller retailers. Also several outparcels. Should go before P&Z later in October.
  3. Looks lilke the 55,000 square-foot building going up across from The Shoppes at River Crossing will be a Hobby Lobby store. It's expected to open in 2014. http://www.macon.com/2013/09/03/2643962/hobby-lobby-to-open-store-in-north.html
  4. Jimmy Johns sandwich shop preparing to open in Wesleyan Station Shopping Center on Forsyth Road, a couple of doors down from Kroger.
  5. There are three building planned for the site, according to their P&Z request from January. The largest building, in the back left corner of the property, would be just over 55,000 square feet. Two smaller buildings, around 6,000 - 8,000 square feet, would be in the right front. The P&Z app listed possible uses as commercial/retail. Here's the P&Z agenda from Jan. 28, 2013 (see page 32)
  6. Buffalo Wild Wings to open later this year in old El Azteca building on Tom Hill Sr. Blvd. http://www.macon.com/2013/05/20/2486015/buffalo-wild-wings-planning-restaurant.html
  7. Women's Health Institute of Macon is building next to Cheddars. It's moving from Pine Street downtown.
  8. I haven't gotten confirmation, but I've been told by a source in local government that a new Chick-Fil-A is going up on Bass Road in front of Publix.
  9. The Telegraph has pulled that story, saying it's not accurate. Apparently the 870 jobs from NCR are headed to Columbus. Macon Telegraph: Report of 800 Jobs Not True
  10. That was Texas Cattle Company. Music City Grill was two doors down, where Loco's is now.
  11. Yeah, fifteen or twenty is never enough!
  12. The banner in front says "New East Super Buffet", which sure sounds like another Chinese buffet.
  13. They're going in to The Market Place at Bass. This article from the Macon Telegraph says they expect to open next Spring. I drove by there on Monday, and they're really working on getting the site prepared for construction.
  14. Today I noticed small signs on Bass Road (around the I-75 interchange) saying, "Coming Soon - Quiznos - Across from Bass Pro Shop". I suppose it will be somewhere around the entrance of Bass Road, perhaps the same building where Starbucks is going. Speaking of Bass Pro... I see they've started clearing the land along the entrance road for The Marketplace at Bass. It's a Fickling property, and more info is available on this PDF file for Lullwater and Marketplace..
