  1. Yeah I skated there many times too.
  2. Maybe they could do away with the Residental behind it in this site plan. Then move the line of stores back with another row store in front of them. It seems like they would then have something similiar to Destin maybe. Just a thought.
  3. I have been to East Chase several times and liked it. The only bad thing I can say is that it finally killed off Montgomery Mall and is beating up Eastdale mall too. I wish we had Eastdale's ice skating rink in one of our Malls. Video of Mall and Ice Skating
  4. Since 9/11 the security has changed and its closed on the weekends.
  5. Apalachicola Chattahoochee Flint River Basin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACF_River_Basin
  6. One other thing to justify the density just look across the road at the two 5 story towers were Sun Trust bank is. To the south is several two story office buildings. This would blend in just fine.
  7. This is something similiar to what I was envisioning, except it doesn't necessarily need a street thru the middle of it since its already surrounded by road access. A pedestrian walkway similiar to adams street downtown with out parking would work. In order to handle the parking and better utilize the property that was why I suggested the adjacent parking garage. http://www.ci.monterey-park.ca.us/images/t...enter-trial.jpg
  8. Yes the shopping center is fullly occupited. The wasted space I am speaking of is the huge parking lot that never gets filled unless there is a boat show and the large area on the south side that is used for a cut thru from t-ville rd to the road behind albertsons. The whole lot is big enough if developed as I described in to something really special. The other k-mart shopping center really really really does need to be redeveloped. That too has enough property for a large development as well.
  9. Here is an idea I have been thinking about for quite some time, I thought I would run it past everyone here. I think that redeveloping the Albertsons shopping center on Thomasville Road would be a HUGE money making development for the NE part of town. Here is what I was thinking about: Currently there is an Albertsons, Books a Million, KFC, and a Popeyes Chicken in this shopping center that used to have a K-Mart in it. A huge portion of this center is wasted space. I propose completly demolishing all the structures. Then build a multi-story life style shopping center. You could have retail stores on the bottom two stories then maybe a couple of more floors of office space. Since the property is surrounded by road access on three sides, getting to and from the property would be a breeze. Build it like a town center development with maybe a parking garage adjacent to the building structures. Basically a dense development were shoppers could all park in the garage and shop, dine, entertainment, work, etc with a short walk accross the property or one of the other levels. Since the property is located at the intersection of Thomasville Rd, Capital Circle & I-10 the traffic count could easly support any type of retail that would like to setup business there. Not that I am capable of persuading the owners of the property to do this but I think is a great idea anyway. What do you think?
  10. I have been monitoring the posts to this forum and tallahassee.com concerning the Dillards leaving and the request for economic help for the Tallahassee Mall. I for the most part believe in free enterprise and letting the free market determine the course of things. I think in this case the City/County needs to work closely with the redevelopment plans for the Tallahassee Mall. Yes the Mall is privately owned but it is the economic engine for NW Tallahassee and the surrounding area. All those businessses in the area in some way benefit from the Mall being there. I can speak first hand about how the decline of the Montgomery Mall has effected the surrounding area. I have relatives that live about a mile from the there Mall and that whole area of Montgomery is changing and not for the good. Back in the 70's, 80', 90's it was a great place to live but not so much now. The way I see it government spends lots of money helping fix up historic sites and buildings with very little return on investment in the long run. Help the Tallahassee Mall owners improve the whole area not just the Mall would be a great investment for the future. The return on investment would certainly bear more fruit that all of the boondoggle trips they make all over the place for ideas to help the community. This idea is already under ther noses. On a side note the folks that posted on Tallahassee.com about how the teenagers were dressed haning out at AMC20 on Friday or Saturday nights, need to get a life. I would much rather have my child haning out at the Mall where there are security and police than somewhere that is maybe ourside in the dark with no security. I have a 16 year old daughter that I drop off and pick back up on Saturdays with her friends. For teenagers there are not many options like this in Tallahassee. Also for the folks that don't want the investment into this Mall they need to all crawl back under the rock they came out from. Maybe they don't want the Mall or don't care but I DO.
  11. From looking at the density of the units that would have to be a multi-story building or buildings. Either way it would look very impressive for the part of town. Maybe this will go thru....
  12. Does anyone know anything about this proposal? Its sounds pretty big "700 residental units" with the commercial part too for that part of town. Campus Circle Redevelopment (TPA070086) (21-26-25- A-0030) located on 13.25 acres just NW of the Basin St./Tennessee St. intersection. The proposed project is for the redevelopment of the existing site into 700 residential units at a density of 52.8 units per acre and the construction of an additional 60,000 square feet of retail. The property is zoned CU (Central Urban). PROJECT COORDINATOR: Northwest Team (891-7100) Gordon Hansen
  13. The BCS invite is very cool for the football team. I think the sports media never took Florida seroiusly until the end of the season(Kind of like what happend in the NCAA champonship they one last year in Basketball). We have the toughest schedule in the country this year and no one thought they could make it this far. Not to take anything away from the Seminoles win but, Florida did play really bad for that game. One of there main players Brewer didn't play and half of the starting team just got over some illnesses they had during the Kansas game which they lost as well. FSU did play very well and if they can keep playing like that all season you never know, we could see them in the NCAA tournement. I am Gator fan first but I do like watching the home town team play and win as well. Now maybe if we can just get the noles football team straightened out we can have some heated rivally games when both teams played at the top of there potential on game day and all eyes in college football where focused on Tally and Gville.
  14. I went. Florida looked just like they did 2 years ago when Florida St. beat them in Tally. They did not play to there potential at all. Florida St. had a lot mroe hustle in there game and the rebounds and such defiently bounced there way. Sad day for Florida fans myself included.
  15. Hi everyone, not so new member to Urbanplanet. I have read the postings here for quite a while but never thought about joining until today. Real Estate is my second hobby (Computers being the first) and maybe Golf third. I love checking Urbanplanet for the area's development news. Also some other the other cities in our region of the countryas well. I grew up in Madison County Florida then moved to Jefferson and now live in Tallahassee. I have worked in Tallahassee for the past 16 years. I have always considered Tallahassee to be home for me even as a young child. (Not much of a country living person) Nice to visit but I love living in the city. I have traveled all over the world and had many opportunites to live in various cities in the US but chose Tallahassee because of its small town feel with bigger city amenities. Me, my wife and kids plan on staying here for quite a while longer, maybe until retirement. Then maybe move back to Jefferson County for a slower paced life. We still own property there and really love Monticello as well. Its nice to see it growing again.
