Norfolk Light Rail Project

This project has received initial Federal approval and is expected to start construction around mid-2007 and be completed by late 2009 or early 2010. Below is a rundown of the starter line station locations as well as a brief synopsis of the project.

Ridership is expected to be around 10,000 per day. Future expansion of the rail line includes plans to connect with Virginia Beach mass transit and eventually the oceanfront. Development will tend to center around the rail line much as it does in Northern Virginia. This provides the opportunity for even denser urban development in the coming years. Below is a map of the full extent of the starter line.
