24 Hour Bus Service To Remain

A compromise has been reached in regards to the city's plan to elimate bus service between midnight & 5:00 AM. 14 routes currently run 24 hours. Under DDOT's new plan, eight of the routes will continue to run 24 hours. Service on the other six lines that currently run all night will stop between 2:00 & 4:00 AM. The seven least-used lines will be eliminated. The changes will save the city $3 Million for the current fiscal year, and are set to take place on April 23.

DDOT Bus Service Changes

Sounds like good news for Detroit's city updates, saving money for the city's redvelopment sounds like a good idea, and maybe they could build a second form of commuter mass transit like a light rail or subway.

I saw three brand-spanking-new DDOT busses going East on I-94 (near the airport) heading for Detroit yesterday. Could there be more? Hmmmmm.....

Good! Hopefully the new ones are more reliable than the old ones. And maybe they have wheelchair lifts that actually work.
