Walk Score

I feel like this has come up in another thread at some point, but I can't find it

Walk Score compiles business and transit information to determine the "walkability" for addresses. It's not perfect, but it is nifty.

They rank Charlotte neighborhoods, and the #1 neighborhood for walkability was interesting: it isn't a Ward, Southend, Dilworth, P-M, or NoDa. It's Cherry!

I don't mean to be "jingoistic" in regard to my neighborhood, but I'd like to point out that NoDa is not rated (North Charlotte is) - so our score is skewed by the fact that N. Charlotte stretches across Sugar Creek and all the way to Eastway.

Congrats to Cherry - it truly is a small and compact walkable little hood - and had my wife and I felt better about the building stock there it was actually on the top of our move-to-list a couple years ago.

^Right, boundaries make a difference in score. As another example, Plaza-Midwood includes everything from the relatively compact historic district of small blocks abutting the commercial district to the longer, curvilenear streets surrounding the country club.
