Apparently there's plans underway to install a new floating dock at the Waterfront Park pier to accommodate water taxi service to Patriots Point. This will be an issue

to be approved/reviewed during up coming city meetings. Not sure if approved this taxi service will replace service at the Maritime Center or an expansion

A water taxi to Waterfront Park would make a lot of sense, especially given the number of tourists that access Patriot's Point and Shem Creek.

The city is currently soliciting bids to construct a floating dock at the Waterfront Park with construction to begin in the fall of this year. Bids are also being solicited for an operator of the water taxi service.

The City is now soliciting construction bids to build a 15' x50' floating dock at the Waterfront Park. Not sure exactly where at the park the dock will be installed.

I should have added that the CIty is again soliciting construction bids. Not sure what became of the solicitation of bids from last summer unless there was a funding issue and the project was delayed to the point that the project now has to be re-bid.

Update in the Post & Courier yesterday concerning the proposed floating dock at Waterfront Park. It will be a new stop for water taxi service with construction beginning this December.

City Council, at this past Tuesday's meeting, (finally) approved a construction contract to build a new floating dock at Waterfront Park that will be used  for water taxi service.  The dock will be located on the north end of the existing fixed pier.
