Garbage City

Recommended Posts

Inhabitat has an article on a place known as 'garbage city' located just outside of Cairo, Egypt with a bunch of photos. It is bringing the movie Wall-e a little too close to home IMO.

When we throw something in the trash and roll it to the curb, most of us forget that it actually goes somewhere and will be there for a very very long time. The images of 'garbage city' hopefully make us all aware that our waste doesn't just disappear.

At least it's still available to be recycled and not buried under tons of concrete that will require fossil fueled equipment to remove it from the Earth.

Sadly, I can't be of much consulation... And just so you know, I'm certified by the State of NC as a transfer station operator and recycler. Green has long been my business.
