Old Friends Horse Retirement Farm

Had a quick visit to the Old Friends Farm, on Paynes Depot Road (US 62 south of the Georgetown By-Pass) yesterday. Really hot and humid but these old horses were glad to see anyone who had carrots to feed them. Some of the animals are in their 20's but a few younger ones, retired from injuries, were still able to romp around in the fields. Many had won millions of dollars for their owners over the years and were saved from the slaughter house by this great farm. Admission is free but they gladly accept donations. Enjoy a bit of Bluegrass Kentucky Horse Country.

I never really think about where older horses go or that such places are open to the public, so getting to see a farm that operates in the capacity is interesting. Cool to hear its free, but good to know you can contribute as well.

Very nice and sharp pics by the way.
