A solution to McMansions, or just making it worse?

Linky.

To me this actually seems counter-productive. Sure, McMansions aren't that cool, but what this neighborhood is actually decreasing density. Is a McMansion so bad if it's built on a relatively small lot rather than sprawled out over an entire acre?

Isn't the density of these McSubsivions low enough as they are? Now we have to but up with tracks of McMansions each on there own property big enough to have its own zipcode? This takes the idea of propper urban planning along with protecting the envionment and tosses them out the window. Wait! What am I saying? That's been done ages ago.

Upon further review, it sounds like an older neighborhood dating back to the 1930's, and these people don't want the old houses razed and replaced with McMansions. It seems like a better solution would be a historical preservation ordinance or something.
