Here is a new proposal to bring an upscale shopping center to Graham that could come up to 500,000 sq ft and attract large retailers. Here is the developer building the center. , Here is an article discussing the shopping center This shopping center comes on the heels of almost 2,000 homes planned or under construction along the NC 54 in southwest Graham. Looks like Alamance County is booming in Growth with Graham at 15,000 and rising fast you could easily see the town at 20,000+ around the 2010 census.

Wow, 500,000 sq ft??? I guess I should have been expecting it - the placement of the homes and development is strategic because the Alamance Parkway (extension of University Drive) will eventually come through the area and loop around Burlington, Graham, and Elon. Unfortunately... the "eventually" may be 25 years away...... but the population boom is now and quickly forthcoming.

Just to give an update Montgomery Carolina Corp is still moving forward with their project in Graham which is said to include retail and entertainment. The developer has said the project will be built in two phases, each being 250,000 sq ft. The creek has proven to be too costly to move, so instead they have chosen to incorporate the creek into the project. The only retailer mentioned so far is Harris Teeter. Renderings are set to come out soon. I wish Alamance News had a website so I could get information going on in Alamance County to UP more frequently.
