Rubber Sidwalks

I read an interesting article about how the City of Washington D.C. is installing sections of sidewalks made of recycled tires. Its more costly than conventional concrete sidwalks. But proponents say it would save in the long run as the rubber sidewalks do not crack from tree roots and freezing. Plus the makers claim that the rubber sidwalks would reduce slip and fall lawsuits as the material is softer than concrete and good on the joints. I know that GR is on a tight budget plus concrete is oberterated by Michigan winters making for costly repairs and also makes the city liable to slip and fall lawsuits. I wonder if rubber sidwalks would work here in GR?

Interesting idea, although I don't think you will ever see it in the city center, but perhaps along Michigan Hill there these things would be fantastic.

I just got back into town from a conference in Denver where this product was discussed. It looks pretty cool to me.
