Don’t get too excited yet. My understanding is the Richland neighborhood is still doing everything they can to kill this project even with the really nice redesign. They don’t believe they should be subject to development near them.

Ugh... why are people such stubborn regressive nincompoops sometimes?  'Let's see, this development would provide me and my family and neighborhood with a beautiful new public space, new and convenient dining and retail options, raise my property values, and just improve the overall quality of life...' *glazed hypnotized look comes over their eyes*... 'but... TRAFFIC... CHANGE... TRAFFIC... CHANGE... NO CAN HAVE... MUST STOP ALL NEW DEVELOPMENT...'

I think planning will approve this. You can please some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time, but some of these people will never be pleased because in the words of the gal from California on the Conde Nest video, they all think they are their own special snowflake, not meant to be snowflake in a bad way. Her meaning is that every little snowflake is so special and unique.

That's the problem with everyone of these ding dongs in a lot of these neighborhoods, they just think they are so special that no one else matters and their rights trump everyone else's. They have no regard for anyone but themselves, unwilling to compromise, and always think they are right.

Planning has already approved the project. The NIMBY’s are fighting at the council level.

That's right. Planning has approved. Since they got an SP they have to get council to approve and that's where Richland is using its influence / money.

Yeah...they've given them everything they've asked for...but still complaining.   NIMBYs at their worst.  Make demands.  Get their demands.  Demand more.

If people had more respect for private property rights we wouldn't have this problem.  A person's opinion about land usage stops right at the border of their property.  Want to control what is being built on a particular parcel?  Easy - - buy the land and you have total and absolute control over it.  What's that?  You don't have enough money to buy the land?  Well then, you have no say in the matter.  Return to your own land and place a pink flamingo in your front yard in protest.

Right on. What's especially absurd to me is Richland acts like this project is in the middle of their neighborhood when it is literally separated from them by a cavernous interstate.

The Mayor has very little  to do with this as it is the council. That is not really in that neighborhood the way I see it. Maybe they just need to move away to the California fires and floods to see what real disasters are made of.

As seen on the Mayor's Facebook page - this comment was made on a post about Amazon.

Is there a dumber claim than "overbuilding"? These projects aren't being built as bait to attract people to Nashville, they are being built to support the people that are coming to Nashville with or without the project. If you want to end "overbuilding", end job and population growth - which some people seem to want.

They’ll still whine.  Nothing short of shutting the project down will make the people ACROSS THE INTERSTATE happy.

Yup. That's their game. Keep moving the goal posts until the developer gives up.
