  1. Two items of interest from today's Independent Mail. Apparently the mayor's race is heating up and a key issue is Downtown development. Two challengers are making noise about wanting to push downtown development more.

The other article is about the Walgreen's Distribution Center. According to the article, about 500 jobs are being created there. The point of interest is that about 200 of them are pledged for persons with disabilities. The whole center is being built with that in mind. It's one of Walgreen's social priorities apparently.

    Interesting stuff.

I watched that on the news last night. They are definately leaning toward special needs workers and training for them has already begun. Quite impressive. Still much to be done on this site though... :yahoo:

  2. I have had several opportunities to view the Walgreens up close and you are quite correct, "large" does not describe it very well. Crom Corp built the holding tanks in the rear and even they are huge... Miss working with Joe Johns out there.

  3. Ugh, hope it's not one of those flashy distracting signs. To much frill for this area after all the work that has been done to blend it in with the older style.

    The deck sounds positively inviting!

I read somewhere about the tour of the ballfield but couldn't ask at the time, how can I join in on that? Is it over?

Maybe someone can call me at work today and let me know? 233-2661

    Thanks,

    Suzanne

  4. The Walgreen Distribution Center is quite large and no where near completion. They have at least another 6 months or more to go.

There are some beautiful condos going up near 85 by Trehel construction that are nearly finished and being landscaped now.

The Hilton is still being built in the rear area and coming along nicely.

There is a Fatz Cafe across the interstate on the Clemson side being built by Abbott, just put in the footers last week (rain slowed this one down a bit)

There is also a Food lion and shops being built on hwy81 going toward Anderson on the left.

The Hospital is undergoing changes by MJ Harris and Rock City Mech.- should be finished in a few weeks...

Even more growth in the Clemson/Easley areas:

A new Hampton Inn at 123/153 which is under pressure to get caught up, it would seem the electrician has slowed things a bit....

Plenty going on in the upstate...
