  1. I had no idea that building had a basement. Check out the blocked off windows. I assume it used to have window wells for light. I was thinking this would just be a surface lot until construction started, but I guess not. I wouldn't think the basement would be filled in only to be re-excavated later.

    Look at centennial tower

  2. I have pictures of the banner on the Richmond Rafting Co building and I have pictures on this site from inside the power plant from a few weeks ago.

    Abandoned buildings thread

I haven't been able to upload all the pics I've wanted to show... why did they get rid of flock?

    Cadeho,

For some reason I can't see any of your photos (your photo post are just blank space.. nothing). Do I have to login somewhere to see them?

  3. While surfing the TV channels this morning, I saw a man on Fox News who I believe is an FBI agent sitting in front of the Richmond skyline discussing the friendly-fire killing of another FBI agent in a bank robbery in a distant city.

Wonder why the gentleman from (or,at least IN) Richmond was being interviewed rather than someone on the actual scene?

Haha, I was watching that too. A few minutes earlier they had Mayor Wilder on there discussing his possible endorsement for Obama. He had the Richmond Skyline as his background. I'm sure it was done with blue screen technology. When the next story came on they must have forgotten to change the background image.

  4. By the way, weren't the buildings that burned last week an old Miller & Rhoads Dept store? If I recall when I took a class with Mr. Zehmer, I think he mentioned that it was their "suburban" store. Anyone have a copy of Downtown?

You are correct. I have a copy of the book and it was their suburban store.

  5. It appers the upper floors of the builing were gutted. The facade looked ok aside from the missing windows and charred paint. The rest of the walls of the building were still standing, so I would assume they could rebuild within those walls. If they happened to have gotten weakened in the fire, then I suppose the least they could do would be to save and reinforce the facade to keep the looks of the building as a whole.
