  1. Quicktrip is planing on building it's first store in SC on Rutherford st across from the new Mcdonalds (the old city wrecker service building). It will be their new "concept " store, about 6000 sq.ft. with 60 parking spaces, out side dining, meals to go.

  2. Thanks for the compliments!

We are going to move our studio (Trey Cole design group) from the west end to this location when it is finished.

We still have a lot of work to do before we can move in, so unfortunately it will be while before it is completed.

we will be occupying part of the building and will be leasing out studios to other businesses.

    Thanks again!

  3. Just a few updates:

-Twigs will be putting in a store where Qi Mountain was located along Main Street in the West End. I imagine this is a relocation of their current store next to the Westin Poinsett.

From my understanding they are planing on keeping the Twigs at the Poinsett and the new store in the west end will have a home furnishings theme.

  4. Thanks, Trey!

What's with this "up to 20 stories" business?? How about an "over __ stories" district, instead? Let's not restrict ourselves in height. Though, I love the idea to generate areas of buildings of a common height.

The main goal was to make it clear to developers what height of building could be built were and not have to wait on the DPC to decide, and to encourage taller building in these zones. ( you could still build a taller building but would have to be approved)
  5. Made it to the meeting, Below are a few items of interest that I noted.

    1) The area between Bowater and the church street bridge was one of the areas targeted for redevelopment.

    2) Add a interchange at the end of the church street bridge with direct access to the broad street area.

    3) Possably build visitor center in this area.

    4) Increase trolly lines to neighborhoods .

    5) Move trolly lines off main street .

    6) Need a larger university presents downtown (Clemson Graduate center)

    7) Redevelop county square - Need the county office to stay but in a taller building and add housing units.

    8) Add the Stone ave- Wade Hamton intersection to the gateway site (for better planing)

    9) Reorganize the DPC- one group to approve residential projects and one to approve downtown development.

    10) Clarify Requirements for development.

    11) Created center city zone for buildings up to 20 stories.

    12) Created an emerging zone for buildings up to 8 stories.

    13) plan to have light rail station downtown and not out at the interstate.

Just a few items for discussion. :D

  6. Nice one! Those clouds almost look three dimesional...I feel as though I can reach out and feel some texture on the screen there. Are you doing any post-processing such as HDR with these last couple of photos?

Thanks, Just messing around with I Photo.

  7. I find that news to be kind of disappointing. I am not a fan of Spill the Beans' ice cream. It will work out well for them, no doubt, considering they are rather cramped in their current location. I look forward to something unique opening at their current South Main address.

The gallery( Christopher park ?) next door is expanding into that space.

  8. ...:) .... I was talking to another artist/writer last night about the old Starlight Lounge photo & showed him the photo here...He, too, thought the same about a story idea here of intrigue and mystery and "history"...What amazed him was the absence of windows in Starlight. I imagine there once were in the in front; and perhaps a skylight...I love that photograph so much.

Can anyone make out the subtext or the slogan of Starlight Lounge? We couldn't figure all of it out...

  9. Doesn't that last picture belong in the grit thread?

I am drawn to "grittily" -industrial stuff. I just see it as part of the fabric of Greenville and IMO just dosn't fit in a "not so pretty " thread. I am posting these photos with out recommending a change or a need to demolished just part of our history in Greenville.

  10. I don't have the Journal in front of me but John mentioned some thing about the West Washington street site again in the TBA column and I noticed that they have replace the broken glass. :dontknow:

I had a assumed that the whole block would be demolished and it would become some new structure...

Could some one be interested in refurbishing and leasing the present building instead? :dontknow:

Maybe we will have a new business on main street sooner than we thought?? :dontknow:
