  1. I expect in the next ten years that it will become a two story mall. with parking decks. Another mall will be coming into the new part of town...west of 55 to support of the Apex, Holly springs, and new Cary crowd. With buildout of cary around 175K I can't imagine it would only have one mall for the whole town.

    On another note.. The old parking lot that is never used is being torn up now and Restuarants will be going in. Across from barnes and nobles will be a good pedistran location for whoever goes in there.

    cary towne center will NEVER , i repeat NEVER become a 2 story mall.

  2. neiman marcus isn't going to come to crabtree valley, despite the fact that crabtree could probably support one, you can see they are testing the nc market with the one they opened up in charlotte. HOWEVER, i think a bloomingdales at crabtree would work really well, crabtree needs that one department store to make that upscale statement, and saks messed things up by locating to triangle towne center, so the bloomingdales corp. have a great opportunity to come to crabtree and become the premeir department store of the triangle. tell me that couldn't work, i'd love to see it happen :w00t:

  3. another big aspect, perhaps the biggest aspect of the triangle vs. silicon valley discussion is the culture of the two areas, the attributes of both areas are one of a kind, but what sillicon valley has that has made it what it is, is a unique culture that breeds those ultra creative bay area types, which in turn translates into ideas, and those ideas turn into companies. Maybe its the california herb that makes this happen :P , but the whole bay area is like an incubator for this kind of thing. Its kinda hard for me to put into words, its something you just have to see first hand.

  4. Papa Sams (well, the Breakfast Nook) is still there. Its rather enjoyable.

    Subs are a problem here. I'd like to see a Beezer's in town somewhere. Or Jersey Mikes. Both are good stuff.

    yea, jersey mikes would be great. i could see one being built in the westgate area. their buffalo chicken sub is to die for.

  5. Market Raleigh as a technology and arts center. Play up RTP, Centennial Campus, the universities, etc, etc. even if they are not located downtown. Get free wi-fi rolled out along Fayetteville Street to compliment outdoor areas and for the convenience of visitors. Get a central library down near site 1 and 4, with a visitors center incorporating City and State info. Make sure the site 1 and 4 buildings feel like they represent one of the leading edge technology centers in the world. Incorporate a central arts "hall" in the visitors center with a map to each gallary, including CAM and Artspace and others. A schedule of upcoming Hurricanes games should be up. A shrine to Duke State and UNC NCAA basketball champioships should be near the visitors center. Placards touting big name companies and institutions like Red Hat and the Duke Cancer center. Everything that we are, everthing that we are proud of as a region should be reflected in the center of the region. We have to posture ourselves as the Center of all that is RDU. It takes the landmark buildings we are getting built. It takes the voice of our elected leaders. It takes the finer touches....the residents, the glassy buildings, the historic buildings. The Downtown Raleigh Alliance should consider moving to ground floor space at Site 1. From that vantage advertise our regional attractions from downtown. Bring people downtown to learn about the larger area. Something like that anyway.

    my thoughts EXACTLY! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

  6. Do you think the Triangle will ever surpass Silicon Valley in the amount of tech businesses headquartered here? I don't, but it is nice being compared to such a powerhouse.

    having lived in both san francisco and growing up in cary, i can say firsthand, the triangle will never surpass silicon valley in terms of tech business, you should really take a tour of the valley to get a scope of just how much of the computer world is headquartered there. While the triangle is like a east coast silicon valley, sillicon valley could never be outdone, at least by no place in the u.s.
