The plans that were in place by the would-be developer were quite nice. The building would have looked much more modern. I can't agree with demolishing the WTC. The International Trade Mart building was created by a merger of the International House and International Trade Mart. The WTC New Orleans was the first World Trade Center organization in the world. Throwing away an important part of international history like that would be a real shame.

This design, right?
Not close from the sound of things.

That is sweet! I never new about this! This building used to be an office tower right? How long has it been vacant?
The original developer, Edward Giannasca Jr. is taking the backseat on this project. Two New York developers, Glenn Rushton and Robert Katz, will be running the show. The design has changed. The original needlepoint, multiledged, futuristic design has been scrapped with a cleaner glass-and-steel building now.
The new facade will be gold tinted wall-to-wall glass with maroon steel.

Holy... 3.2 million? I knew Las Vegas was the biggest convention market in the country, but 3.2 million sq. ft. is just so amazingly unbelievable. Wow.
And the Morial Convention Center is huge, but this expansion will be awesome.
That's just the public center. If you account for the private convention centers and other exhibition space, Las Vegas has over 13 million square feet.

It certainly will!
I'm not completely sure, but I know it will be in the top 10 largest in the country, and possibly the top 5.
We're already in the top five. We will bump to #4.

I just looked the 87 page presentation over... the ideas are pretty neat. If they can manage to follow the plan, I think it will draw many to Jackson's downtown.
